let me bring everybody up to speed, quicklike.
finally decided we would join dvc(ssr) and filled out numerous forms, notarized and sent back.all was well right?not quite!our friend who notarized the doc's is a provincial judge(read:bigshot).as a prov judge she doesn't have/need a seal.her signature is registered with the courts, blah, blah, blah.dvc says MUST have seal and return docs to be notarized.when i call to explain the reason for no seal they tell me new jersey has a similar situation and they don't need a seal.they tell me they'll look into it and get back to me.well turns out fla doesn't have the same agreement with ontario that they have with n.j. and so i'll need that darn seal!oh,well so i'll make arrangements to see a lawyer on friday.fast forward to tonight.i get two letters from dvc telling me it's their pleasure to tell me that we've been accepted for financing(one letter for the original contract and one for the add-on).
my question(s) is:do i need the seal?
did they work it out all by themselves?

dvc is closed so i won't know anything 'til tommorrow unless any of you have some insight:hyper:

IMHO: You need the seal. Acceptance of financing means you are approved for financing , but you still have to fill out the paperwork correctly.

We did a small add on in September and decided to do the paperwork when we arrived at the Beach Club in October. We signed all of the papers while we were there during our October trip. When we arrived home, our guide phoned us to tell us they had forgot to deduct the Magical Beginnings discount so they needed to send us all of the paperwork again. We signed them again but I refused to go to a lawyer to have them notarized. They resent them back to us again and when I phoned again to say that it wasn't my fault that they had to be resigned and I was not going to the expense of having them notarized, they again said that they must be notarized and they would compensate me for the cost of going to a lawyer.

Anyhow, they definetly need to be notarized so I have just found out.

Good luck.

I had to have things notorized before, and I use our local bank, which is free since I have an account there. Takes about a half an hour....

If you have the same, it might be more convenient than trying to find an attoryney. I believe all you need is a registered notary.

Just an idea, Good Luck, Goldi

the financing approval letter is just that you've passed the credit check...You will need to get the documents notarized but I agree a quick trip to the bank or some grocery stories have notaries there should be much easier than finding an attorney

i should have looked into this notary bussiness more carefully.oh,wait, i did ask my bank while i was working out the financing and they said they used to but not any longer

That's what we had planned on doing, Goldi - the day we got our paperwork we signed and dated and took everything to our bank, where they've notarized things before. However, once they saw what it was, they refused - said Corporate policy that they don't notarize any mortgages that aren't financed through them. We had to go to a UPS store and pay $3 to have it notarized.

Everyone's cutting services, but really, for all the money you put there thru family and then if you have a business too... I guess what I'm suggesting is that I'd vote with my dollars, and think about changing banks.

Who's money is it anyway?

I expect them to make my life easier, so I can earn more money, to put in their bank.

Just my opinion, Goldi.

Good Luck, and sounds like you worked around it nicely.

GMTA, I was think that myself. Had it been me and they refused my money would have walked with me that minute. Sounds like a corporate run bank, not big on customer service.

I honestly thought about it for a minute, but realized that it would be far more costly to me than to them if I 'took my business elsewhere'. Between direct deposit, direct withdrawal, our mortgage is with them, hoping to get a home equity loan to pay off SSR, new checks, convient locations - it would just be a big pain to switch. Plus, I'll only have to get notarization elsewhere when I get a case of Addonitis :)

Ok hang on...confussion is setting in.

We didnt need a notary, but i seem to recall a place for them to have one when we close. DId we screw something up?

We paid cash. Is the notary for the financing?

Of course this is on the eve of booking!

A notary is available at our insurance agency, which is free of charge to those who have insurance thru them. We live in a small town, I don't know if this is a small-town thing or not, but we have all kinds of notaries in the city offices, too. I just assumed that notaries are as numerous as pennies.
