Got my netbook Asus Eee PC question

the battery life is 8.5 hours w/Super Hybrid Engine - it seems like its eating time quickly - is there a certain setting i should keep it on to get the most hours out of my battery?

Lisa- are you watching videos or doing any streaming? That sucks the power out of my Toshiba (9 hour battery life). If I am strictly surfing/email I do get pretty close to the 9 hours on my Toshiba. I personally never changed any settings on mine, so whatever the factory settings are worked for me!

Oh, I also drained the battery all the way down right away and then gave it a full charge. I do recall it coming out of the box with just a short charge.

I have an Asus Eee PC also. On mine I can hit the function key (blue) and the space bar and you can change the different modes that you are running. Super Hybrid is the fastest and I know there is a power saving mode and one where it automatically switches, I think.

Those netbooks do have a great battery life since its a 6 cell battery. Mine is supposed to last 11 hours and realistically, I probablly get 8-9 out of it which I think is very good. If it had a 2 cell battery it would probably only last 2 hours.

You might also want to check to make sure the bios is updated. There was a bios update in September that I think was supposed to help with the battery life.

The wifi and web cam drain the battery quick. Make sure the web cam is set to off.

Yes there is either a little pic on the top row to use with the FN key or a little icon you can click on on the bottom row of your screen. I don't have ours out right now.

i looked through the manual - it does not say how to shut it off.not on the F keys - if u remember, get back to me..thanx
