It was very easy. I walked into Guest Services (no line) at DD and said I wanted to get my Disney Reward Card. I had to provide my Visa card and a picture ID. It took about 3 minutes - they had a stack of them in envelopes. I called Bank One member services to activate and load the card - another 3 minutes - and then I was off and shopping at DD. I used the card twice - once for a purchase and once for a meal. Both times the CM had never seen one before but went away and got instructions and it maybe took a minute or two longer. All in all quite painless. I really should have used those bulky certificates first to get rid of them, but I didn't have them with me.

Can I ask where you used it?

Glad it was so easy for you to get the card.

My mom got hers in the mail last week. Her statement date was the other day, and so we checked her balance online today (she still hasn't gotten the bill in the mail). She had another 19 to add, so went ahead and did it. They were added to her balance on the card instantly! Now she's got enough for a nice meal or two for her and my dad when we go in December.

This is so much better than those certificates. No problem with not getting change either as they can just subtract whatever the amount is. I forgot to add that when you get your receipt it lists the amount still left on the card which will make it a lot easier to keep up with how much spending power you have left.

Eilonwy - I made the purchase at the Christmas Store in DTD and had a meal at Cap'n Jack's also at DTD. I have not been over to the West side of DTD yet but will post here other places that I was able to use them - and list if I find any places where I cannot use them.

Aside - I found the CUTEST Halloween Pooh at DTD - sweet lovable Pooh dressed as a vampire with fangs! I didn't buy it but was tempted.

Thanks again for all the info!

Nice that they put the balance on the receipt. I guess that's what they mean in the literature when they say to save your receipts!

Does any program (creations rewards, mypoints, etc.) offer bonus points if you sign up for the Disney Rewards Visa through their site? Thanks!!

Cool! I still have to order my rewards card, I've been getting the giftcard ones (I'm collecting, still haven't found the $10 Nemo from the pre-order :( ) but I can't wait to get my rewards card.

As for rewards sites offering points for signing up, I haven't seen any promotions from any of the merchants I use (and I use A LOT for CttM) but I will definitely post if they do!!! I doubt they will, even though I've seen the banners on major sites.

I went over to the west side of DTD today.

They do not take the reward certificates or cards at:

Planet Hollywood
House of Blues

HOB said they had a meeting about it and they are going to take them in the future but don't have a date set.

Virgin Records had a long line so I didn't get a chance to ask.

Cirque du Soleil does take them.

I finally got rid of all of my certificates so I am only using the card now. My billing cutoff is the 17th and I went online and transfered my new points to it. I used the card six times the past few days and EVERY time the CM said it was a first for them.

Where used:
Epcot F&W - could use in all but one booth where the machine was broken and they couldn't take anything but cash

FWL - Pin booth

World of Disney - also got my 10% AP discount

Other food stands and stores in the parks.

Thanks again for all the info. And for breaking in all those Cast Members!
