Got my D23 info in the mail...

People keep saying that the "special gift" will be amazing. I am totally convinced it's going to be crap.hahaha

I burst out laughing when I read that, I put emphasis on the "crap" part. It is how I feel too. Too much hype can be a bad thing.

Disney speak:

special gift = small plastic thing that can't figure out what it is( crap)
includes everyone = buy more overly expensive junk.

The special gift is probably like a get 5% off if you spend $500 or more at DTD...of course black out days apply and your purchase must be made between 2:00 P.M. and 2:15 P.M. lol

Is this $75 a one time payment or yearly?!? or do they a least have a lower re-apply cost?

I'm assuming annually...just think if this is what you get for $75 a year...if they add anything to make it better it's just going to make the price go up even more.

The more I think about it, the more it sounds like the Walt Disney Classics Collection type of gift. I haven't been a member for a while, but each year you paid around $60 and got a beautiful sculpture, well worth the cost of membership. I'm hoping they're giving something of this caliber to members, but I haven't joined yet.

I am starting to think that if I'm going to buy the publication (not calling it a magazine), I might as well buy the membership. I'm already paying more than that a month for XM radio and an online game subscription, each.

And I wondered about the Barnes and Noble thing. I was under the impression that you couldn't browse it because it was wrapped in plastic. You'd have to actually break through the plastic to get to it, and I would think people would have to buy it if they did that.

I haven't went to look at it, but I thought I saw someone on here somewhere say they looked at it while sitting around Barnes and Noble...I mean they may have bought it and grabbed a drink at Starbucks or something, but they made it seem like they didn't pay for it.

No, they bought it.

I mentioned in another thread that you could get a FREE D23 pin when you redeemed some of your points at www.disneymovierewards.com . This is the site where you enter a code after buying dvds and blu rays. You know, it's a loyalty program. HELLO DISNEY TRAVEL.... haha

Well, I got my free pin today. Here it is...

I took the pic outside so it might have some glare on it. The back says Limited Edition of 2300.

I was thinking about getting that pin from DMR. I really like the stuff with the two styles of Mickey.

They also had a necklace at DMR.

Maybe somebody who is more of a Mickey Mouse fan than I can explain which Mickey they are using on the Black and White side? I know it's supposed to be an old one, but it sure doesn't look like one from the 20's. It almost looks like they just juxtiposed the color one.

Maybe it would have been better with Oswald facing the color Mickey?

This is exactly why I joined. I can't wait to see the collectable and get my magazines.

It's definitely not the Steamboat Willie Mickey because he is wearing gloves. He didn't wear glove until later. There is definitely a difference in the eyes, the pants, and the shoes.
