Today my family & I were at the Wal Mart way up in St.Cloud on 192 & were very shocked to hear that the store had to be evacuated. We don't know excatly what the reason was, however my best guess is it was a false alarm that had to do with a fire or something, because when we left the fire department had just arrived. Anway it's still a shocking thing to happen since you never expected that it would happen in the 1st place.

Since no one replied, am I right to assume this was nothing serious because just like me, they did not hear anything on the news about it.

I used to work at a Wal-Mart in GA and we had to evacuate the store once because of a bomb threat (and this was pre- 9/11) :confused3

Anything could have been behind it. The good thing is nothing came
of it and your family was all right.

We have had to evacuate our store a few times for no real reason. Usually there is a malfunction in the alarm system and the fire alarms are going off. If central security can't find any reason for the alarm showing up in the system (like a malfunction) they go on the assumption that there could possibly be a hidden fire somewhere in the store and order the evac. It's a big pain for us because the customers actually give us a hard time over leaving when they can see no obvious reason...I guees they need to actually SEE flames and smoke to think there is a problem. :confused3At that point the fire department gets called in to check the store over and make sure there is nothing wrong...then the alarm company get called to fix the darn thing.

Just a side not...one time we did have a working fire in our generator room and we had to evacuate. One customer was refusing to leave cause she had been shopping for 2 hours and what do we mean she has to just leave her groceries? Can't one of the cashiers just cash her out real quick it will just take a few minutes?

I remember a long time ago grocery shopping and the store had to be evacuated and I remember it being really dark, but the little old ladies all went rolling out with their carts filled:lmao:

One time when I worked at Penney's, we had to evacuate for a bomb threat. I had this one witchy customer who refused to leave until I rang her up, too. Security had to bodily haul her out of the store and she fought him the entire time.

Then there were all the ladies from the salon who were in the middle of getting perms. The stylists went and got bottles of water and had to rinse them out in the middle of the parking lot!

Once we had to evacuate at one, because of a fire alarm. My mom and I evacuated, but a lot of people stayed in there. About 5 minutes later they let us all go back in though. Maybe it was a false alarm..?
