I booked my trip for DH and I Dec 2-10 just about a week ago, so I've been obsessively trying to book ADR's since I booked the trip after the 180 day window (mostly unsuccessfully!)
DH really wants to try BOG, which I understand is one of the most popular restaurants. I've been checking every day, and lo and behold, earlier tonight there was an ADR for BOG available!!!!!!
BUT...it's for 9:35PM on Dec 4...the night we're planning to go to MVMCP. I'm so torn! Do we keep the res because it may be our only chance to eat there, but at the same time...I don't want to miss all the cool party stuff. This is our first visit during Christmas, and it's just the 2 of us on an adults-only trip.
What would you do??

Agree - don't waste party time at BOG, it's not worth it (IMHO). Don't stress too much about finding a reservation at BOG, just keep checking every once in awhile, especially as it gets closer. I've gone twice with reservations I made the day or two before that popped up.

I found a 4pm BOG dinner reservation less than a week before we left last September. As said by a pp, hold onto it and keep trying to find a better time. It usually happens.

I would hang on to the ADR fo a while and keep looking for one that is earlier. I never book ADR's during a party, so that is part of my reasoning, but the timing for this one is especially problematic. Your ADR will get in the way of Hallowishes, I believe. This show is one of the reasons we attend the party, so missing it is non negotiable. We don't.

FWIW, I like Disney Dining, but I know that if my ADR is not timed well for the family, we skip it and eat someplace else. I don't know of too many restaurants that are woth paying party prices and then missing key parts of the party for.

I agree I would not waste expensive party time on eating. For that reason I would cancel, so someone who wants to waste party time eating can have it.

I would not waste party time sitting in a restaurant. You'd be amazed at how hard it is to do the party things in 5 hours already.

The restaurant isn't going anywhere. Do it another time. Better yet, keep watching for a better time for this trip. You have plenty of time to keep looking.

I had a similar situation and was so torn as well! I let our ADR go because my kids REALLY want to meet the Beast. If meeting the Beast is important to you, you will not see him at that time on the night of a MVMCP. I spoke to a Disney CM just the other day about this. She advised that the Beast is in the MVMCP parade, so isn't in his study on nights of the Christmas Party when it is approaching parade time. The parade is at 9 and fireworks are at 10, so those are things to consider as well when looking at a 9:35pm ADR. Maybe none of that is important to you, but just wanted you to be aware in the event that it is. Good luck on getting exactly what you want! :)

Appreciate the feedback, everyone...I think I'll hold onto it now and keep checking to see if something else opens up. I will likely cancel it if nothing does open up...it really doesn't make sense to waste party time eating!

I would also keep an eye on the December cancelled dining thread in case someone else has a ressie you can coordinate with. Good luck!

Definitely don't waste time eating during a party, I'd be willing to bet that something will open up earlier or on another day.
