Had to share with others who love a deal ! DH has a conference in Honolulu in October. The rest of us (me and our two boys) are tagging along. I have been checking airfare several times a week for the past few weeks, and it's always been in the $700's (from Houston to Honolulu). I checked late Tuesday evening, and found a flight for $458!!!! :cool1: I put it on 72 hour fare lock (I had to pay $14 for that, but it was totally worth it!), so that DH's corporate travel agency could book him the same flights in the seats next to us. They booked his flight today (the price on the flight had gone up by the next day-- back to the $700's, so they had to pay more for his than we paid for ours), and I purchased the flights that were on hold for us today. Our flights ended up being $505 with taxes!!! Previously, we were looking at $2300 for our three tickets, we ended up paying just over $1500!!I'm SO excited. We haven't told the kids yet, so I've got to tell someone :rolleyes1!! --Katie

Woo Hoo... I've been checking out Hawaii for a 2014 trip and that is a great rate...

I always have best luck on Tuesdays with airfare! Great job!:thumbsup2

Thanks for doing the happy dance with me :). I hope when the time comes, you find a great deal, too! I kept re-checking the flight, making sure it was from Houston, b/c I almost didn't believe the rate!

Congrats!

Flights to Hawaii are very reasonable during the fall months of Sept and October. That's when we took our honeymoon, and we saved big money!

Have fun, Tiger

Congrats on your find! You got in on the Continental/United Airlines Hawaii sale. The sale included flights through next February. I booked Hawaii to Orlando, and another trip to New York for the same price - $500. This is amazing since airfare between Hawaii and the east coast has been hovering in the $1000 neighborhood.

You did sooooooo much better than I did this time around. We are flying from Richmond, Va to Maui. I noticed the same thing you did. Flights hovered around $900 - $950 pp, but then one Tuesday a couple of weeks ago, late at night, they dropped to $710 pp (taxes included). That's when I snagged them. Good, but still not great like your rate. In 2009 I got really lucky and got flights from Washington DC to Maui for $420 pp (taxes included). Can't touch that rate now!!!

Have an amazing time in Hawaii with your family!!!!!

Awesome deal - I love when you can save on flights! Have a wonderful trip! :dance3::cheer2:

Congrats, OP! I am doing the happy dance with you :cool1: because I snagged good airfare to Hawaii for the fall as well. There have been great airfare sales to the islands for the last several weeks, and the Continental/United sale is the most recent one. We are doing to weeks on a split ticket (fly in to Oahu and fly out from Kauai) and I can hardly stand myself I am so happy.

Awesome!! We are planning a trip to Hawaii next summer so I hope I score a deal equally as great! Congrats to you!!

Sweet!
That's one heck of a deal :thumbsup2

Excellent price! WTG, and Tuesdays are the day to get great airfares for sure!
Aloha!

So that's what happened!! Someone from above was looking down on me to let me jsut "happen" upon that deal ;)!! How long did the sale last? I'm pretty sure I had checked flights over the weekend (most likely Saturday), and they were still in the $700's. They were low on Tuesday, and then they were back up on Wednesday. Now, I've just got to plan what we're going to do while we're there!! Any tips would be really appreciated (I might even start another thread asking for tips). Anyone ever used the GO Oahu card? Is it worth the $$? Thanks in advance for any insight you have! --Katie

That is one awesome deal! I've been checking for a well priced flight to Hawaii recently too. So far when I've checked I've gotten at the lowest in the $900 range round trip. Most in the $1000+ range

I'm in the kinda want to go, kinda not, maybe later mood.

I got in on the same deal-we are headed to hawaii at the end of october-i got denver to honolulu for a base fare of 414-435 with taxes and fees.
we have been going over about every three years for 20 years and thats the least i have ever paid so i was prett happy-my last trip to orlando cost more than that.
