If you are into flaming – move along, move along, nothing to see here . . .
I just bought the greatest stroller on e-bay - I’m so excited about it and need to share – Is there a stroller thread that it would be more appropriate?
I have two kids – let’s just say I haven’t used a stroller for either in a while but we bring a wagon to fairs and such because both have lazy legs syndrome. After a couple hours of walking they collapse into a ball of miserable kid. Since our surprise trip will be more walking than either would be comfortable with, Disney World doesn’t allow wagons and the thought of paying to rent a double stroller for 10 days was obnoxiously expensive - I started to look into alternatives. Since one of my kids is older - I thought perhaps one of those new-fangled sit stand strollers or a pull behind boogie board would be appropriate. Then I stuck gold on e-bay. A brand new “twin’s” stroller from approximately 1960. It’s built like a tank but compact and surprisingly light. It has springs for a smooth ride and leather “like” seats. The handle is a comfortable rubber grip – mint condition – I picked it up yesterday and took the kids for a spin – it’s fabulous. It never occurred to me to look for an antique – this one suits our needs perfectly – and it was only 50.00!

I don't know about a stroller thread, but I have to say your "find" looks amazing! It never would have occurred to me to look for something like that, either, but it seems perfect, especially for older kids! Wouldn't it be great if modern manufacturers took a cue from the past and started designing something similar!

I'm glad you found something that will work so well for your family! Have a wonderful trip!!! :goodvibes

That thing is Wicked Cool!

For historical purposes, can you tell who the manufacturer is? It's kind of fun to see the kinds of things we all might have been put in as a kid. It's fun to see the cyclic nature of things and how the changes in technology have affected them.

Wow that is cool! Are you driving and how does it fold up?

But seems like a great solution and what a price!Cheaper than a 2 day rental at the park!

I don't get how two sit at the same time since the seat is slanted? It seems like the front passenger will be pretty uncomfy.

The handle and seat fold down its quite compact when in this mode. I am thinking of getting it a bag for transfer onto the airplane - it is an antique - deserves respect. Its 30" long when the handle is folded down - 45" total length when the handle is extended - Im going to put one of our bycycle trailer bags on the handle for drink convience in the parks. It weighs about 25# (not exactly light but for a double stroller it rocks) - I think it will be totally manageable on the buses.

The seat folds down for one little one to sleep on it or straight up when both are riding - as a matter of fact my son just wheeled it into the living room and is laying on it now so its comfy!

The paper tag that was on it says - Walker Industries Limited, 27 Upper Liffy St., Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The fabric safety tag (do not remove tag) says the patent 1929 but the lady I bought it from dated it at 1959 - so who knows what its real age is. She had another one for sale earlier in the year that was definately a more upscale model - fringed sun top and wood panels on the sides (I didnt see that auction or I would have been all over it!).

I have no idea where she gets them - Here is a link to the seller if anyone is interested in asking her is she has more!

Love that. To bad they don't still make a double seat like that. That's great, good find.

I would be a bit worried about lead paint with something like that, but how cool is that find? I love antiques!!! They just don't make things like they used to anymore.

That thought did occur to me but my kids are older (4+) so I dont have to worry about them sucking on it or anything - it feels like powdercoat. I love it - cant wait to bring it to WDW!

There is a yahoo group called strollerSwap. They would probably love to see pictures of your find!

Make sure you take lots of pictures of them in it to share with us! :)
