I may be behind the times, but I just saw the video and wanted to share.

Joel is a great guy and a fine City Councilman. Many people think of Fort Worth as a consertive CowTown. Fort Worth has a population of over 736,000 and only eight hard working Councilmen so none of them can fly under the radar(considering Cleveand had a population of about 450,000 and 19 Councilmen). I am proud to live in a City that elects Councilman based on their ability and dedication not their personal life.

It is OK to be Gay in Fort Worth.

Although far from perfect, Canada, and Toronto more specifically (where I live) is extremely tolerant of all people. It's nice to live in a place where people can feel comfortable being themselves.

I always thought they were more like guidelines, but ok. I was thinking we could do a video on the ship in December. After all, how much "better" can it get than spending time with a few hundred of your closest friends.

This is one from a man who grew up in a small town in Maine and now lives in Boston. I wonder if the move to Boston helped things "get better". I wonder if he had stayed in the small town in Maine if things would have been okay.

In 1992, one of my library patrons, the high school class valedictorian "came out" in his graduation speech. His father did not take it well. His mother went to PFLAG meetings and came to acceptance. The young man left town for college, moved to Atlanta, has a long-term partner (I think they are married or the equivalent). I don’t think he has ever returned except for his sister’s wedding.


I hope the intended audiences see these videos. I hope they know that things do get better and their lives are important.

I think the It Gets Better Project is one of the most amazing things to happen in the advancement of gay rights in recent years. I like that the videos showcase REAL people, talking about their REAL experiences, and give kids hope that think they'll be in the closet or put down forever. It's a great project!

As someone who has brothers and many dear friends who are gay...I'm so happy that this has started and that celebs are makin videos as well!! I am also bi-sexual and this is the first time I've ever came out and said that...especially on such an open forum!! But..this board in particular makes it easy to say something.

My hometown is pretty open to the gay population here. I don't think I've really heard of bullying or hate crime(as far as someone being gay). I'm sure it's happened..but I've yet to see it.

So bravo to the ladies and gentlemen who are whatever they are and for standing up and sayin that it'll get better!! You have a huge support system...all you have to is ask and we'll be there.

ITA, It's a fantastic thing. I hope all bullied kids or kids who are different or that don't fit in, will watch the videos and benefit from them.
