I was just curious as to what you all thought of this character dining for dinner?? Is the food good, etc?? Also what characters are usually at this meal?? Just curious, any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh and one other quick question, I believe that this dinner is at the Disneyland Hotel, is that within walking distance from Disneyland?? Thanks in advance for your help.:)

From Disneyland it will take you about 10-15 minutes to walk to Goofy's. The walk is pleasant, right through DTD. You could also take the monorail from the Tomorrowland station inside the park to Downtown Disney which is then about a three minute walk to the DLH/Goofy's.

We love dinner at Goofy's. It is a buffet so this is not gourmet cuisine. But we have always enjoyed our meals there. They have a nice salad bar, with some interesting options, last time there was pesto, glazed pecans, raspberry balsamic vinegarette and the usual salad bar makings. They also had soup. Then they had the main part of the buffet which had prime rib, salmon, mashed potatoes, vegetables, fish tacos (make your own), pasta and some other things. They also have a kids buffet (anyone can eat off of) with chicken nuggets, hot dogs, mini corn cobs, pizza, popcorn shrimp and mac and cheese. There is a fruit bar with soft serve frozen yogurt. Then the desserts which are very plentiful, cake, tarts, cookies, puddings, brownies, rice Krispy treats etc. Its a ton of food.

Characters are always Goofy and Pluto. We have also almost always seen Minnie, Chip and Dale. Then there will usually be at least one princess and one or two other characters that for us have included Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Alice, Genie, Baloo, Aladdin, Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, and Wendy. I want to say that there is usually around seven or eight characters that make the rounds. They also get out and dance with the kids or adults, about every half hour which is very fun.

You pay as soon as you check in and there is an 18% gratuity added. They do give AAA discounts so if you have that make sure you show them (I think its around 10%). We have always enjoyed our meals there and have been about 10 times so it must be good in our book!

You can make priority seatings (and should) up to 60 days in advance by calling: 714-781-3463. Have a great time!

We've never had dinner there before - it sounds good!

We love this place! Great interaction with the characters!

My five year old wanted to go again after our breakfast last Wed. We will definitely be back at our trip next year. It was really nice and with Darkbeer's posting it sounds like they now offer a special picture package for the Kitchen as well. We got really cute free buttons and lots of time with each of the characters including autographs and pictures with the seven that were there.

We went for breakfast a few weeks ago and it was fun and the food was good.
The characters we saw were:
Pluto, Goofy, Chip, Dale, Fairy Godmother, Alice and Gepetto.

Awesome answers!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 Thank you for all the great replies!!! This sounds like an A++ character dining experience!!

Disneyland's monorail is more of an attraction than a mode of transportation. Altough it can save you some time if you are going from DL to either the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier Hotel. Since it runs directly into Disneyland, you do need a park ticket to ride it. I have photos of Goofy's but don't know how to post them, maybe tonight when my dh gets home (he's the computer/camera expert). I can tell you that it is very similar to Chef Mickey's. Its a nice atmosphere, since its on the main level it has some outdoor seating available. Its a lot of fun, I don't know of any character meals in WDW that have the wide range of characters at Goofy's. Also the Plaza Inn character breakfast, called Minnie and Friends inside Disneyland also has a wide range of characters too. Its only a breakfast however.

Maybe someone will post pics, if not I"ll try later!

we are going Thursday for dinner, my favorite which they serve for breakfast and dinner is the peanut butter and jelly pizza and the Mickey chicken nuggetts, and yes I am a grownup!

We have done Goofy's Kitchen for dinner twice now. The first time was great, but I was violently ill that evening, all night long. I think it might have been something I ate.

The 2nd time was just ok. The food was just ok. I felt like we were really rushed in and out. The characters only spent about a minute with us before rushing off to the next table.

I'm sad that I have been disappointed with Goofy's in the past. For the money that you pay there should really be no disappointment.

This time we are doing the character breakfast at the PI this time. We have also done that once and it was wonderful.

I think Darkbeer posted that you get a larger picture and four wallets for around $30.
We had just the opposite experience at Goofy's. We were told we had an hour and a half there, each character spent at least 3-4 minutes at our table interacting with us so you figure 7 characters at 3-4 minutes each, that is good quality time. At the park, you are definitely rushed because you have a line of people behind you. I might try the PI next time but we will do Goof's again.

We have been there 3 times now and never had a bad meal or were rushed. The characters came back numerous times for pics and to tease my 17 yo son. This was in the second to third week in August, not a slow time.

Just bumping this up to see if anyone has any photos to share. Thanks!!!:goodvibes

Goofy's Kitchen

the first time we went, my youngest DD and DH sat with their backs toward a main aisle. Every time Goofy walked by, he patted them both on the heads. DDs thought it was HILARIOUS!

Belle was in her village outfit this day. She was very knowledgeable. And a good dance teacher!

sorry these pics aren't all that great. It's the best I could get with the Disney-supplied disposable camera I had to use after a cast member dropped & broke my good camera.

Here are a couple from PI while I wait for my other images to upload...

FG told my little one that she reminds her of Cinderella when she was a little girl. Personally, I think she looks just like TINK! :) I'll have to find a pic of her looking like Tink, I think.

while we were eating, my DD got up from the table and ran toward the door (we were sitting near the back door where the characters come/go through). I had no idea why she was getting up, but then I saw her letting Pluto in - he was trying to get in, but couldn't, I guess.

He ended up chasing her back to her seat.

Then he sniffed her.

Then he sniffed my other DD. When she tried to feel his whiskers, he snapped at her - not enough to hurt her, but enough to make her jump back and everyone laugh.
