I made a reservation for our family of 4 to eat at Goofy's Kitchen next Thursday the 24th at 5:10pm. Is that time of day okay to meet a lot of the characters? Which characters usually come for a visit?

Also, where can I get info on what type of food is served and what the prices are? I know it's really expensive, but I've heard it's a really cool character meal. I am already doing Ariel's Grotto with my daughter the following day, but I really want to do a character meal with my hubby and son, too. Do some people prefer other character dinners?

The renovations are not interfering with it at all. You can easily walk straight down DTD onto the hotel grounds and Goofy's Kitchen is at the very end of that direct walk. For the time being, most construction is toward the back of the hotel property.

We went to Goofy's kitchen on Tuesday night for dinner, it was the best experience. My kids had a ball, each of the characters came to the table for autographs and pictures and the food was fantastic. We took the monorail from tomorrowland to downtown disney and walked to the hotel and we got to ride in the front cabin so that was fun. When we go back I would do it again in a heartbeat. The only thing I would say is if you go for dinner I would make a reservation for 5pm when it opens, it was a little more low key and got very busy when we were leaving.

I've never had a good experience at Goofy's Kitchen. The food is mediocre at best and the characters always seem to skip whichever section I'm sitting in... I have seen 1-2 characters per meal, when I know there are several more in other sections of the restaurants. As for characters, it's pretty much just a big mash-up... I've seen Aurora, Belle, Snow White, Gepetto, Baloo, Jasmine, Goofy, Minnie, and maybe a couple of more around the restaurant.

May I ask when you went and what time of the day?

I am so happy to read this! We go a week from Tuesday and our reservation is for 5pm! Fun idea to take the monorail! I will have to remember that!

We loved our experience at 5pm seating at GK. April 2010
My 2 boys had a blast.
It was very interactive and the food was not what we went for - anhd I was pleased with what we were offered.
They have such GREAT memories!!

I had to change our seating to 5:40pm, because we changed days (we're going on Tuesday). Should that seating still be okay for characters or is there some sort of shift change around then?

You also asked what other people's favorite character meals were...I would put Surf's up at the PPH #1 with Minnie & Friends at the Plaza Inn #2. Our family did all character meals except Ariel's (we have a boy) when we went at Christmas. We plan to try Goofy's again when we go in October because our Goofy's dinner was while he was re-located into a ballroom while they worked on his kitchen.

Yes, I booked Surf's Up, too - because I've seen people raving about how fun it is for the kids. When I called, they told me that it's only breakfast. When I tried to book a late breakfast (10:50), they said that the characters are 'off' their shift at 11am, so I switched to an 8:40 time for next Wednesday.

Grumpy DH is going to be extra grumpy to pay big $$$ for Goofy's Kitchen on Tuesday night and then Surf's Up the very next morning! But, I want the kids to have a great time getting to see all the characters - and since the crowds are expected to be massive, I figure the more I can 'reserve', the better off we'll be.

I've heard great things about both meals, so I am very excited! I've also got Ariel's Grotto booked for Friday afternoon at 2:20pm, after my daughter gets her hair done at the BBB. Man, this trip is going to be expensive!!!:scared1:

Expensive but very very fun! The time you save not having to wait in all the character M&G lines though...priceless!

Any comment on how it might be around 7:00 or 7:30? We'd really like this to be our first experience the day we arrive, but don't get into LA until 4:00ish. By the time we get to Anaheim and checked in (Camelot Inn) I wouldn't imagine we could make it any earlier. Would this be peak dinner time or would things be winding down?

 Annette

We went Friday night at 7. It was great! We saw Pluto, Minnie, Aladdin, Aurora, and Chip and Dale. Somehow Chip missed our table so they took DD over to the section he was in for a quick pic and autograph. There was something for everyone to eat and yummy desserts!
