We have eaten at Goofy's Kitchen many times an love it! But after watching the DIS UNPLUGGED on YouTube and talking about Surf's up, we want to try that for a Character Breakfast.

Surf's Up is less expensive, what differences will I notice? Will I still like the Breakfast as well as Goofy's? I'm excited about seeing Mickey at a Character Breakfast.

Thanks for the input in advance.

The Surf's Up breakfast is our favorite character meal at DLR. As far as the food goes, there are probably fewer options (not as big as Goofy's), but there is still plenty to choose from and the food is pretty good. There are usually 4 or 5 characters, and they come around several times and get the kids up to dance or surf. You meet Mickey right when you come in and they take your pic. Then the other characters (Stitch, Pluto, and Minnie) come by your table. We've also seen Daisy there a few times. Mickey stays up front, but if there isn't anyone in line to take a picture, you can go up and meet him again. Stitch is ALWAYS hilarious, my 6-year-old gets a huge kick out of him. Last time he took her to the next table and had her help him set up the silverware. So funny!

The food is much more fresh at Surfs Up - had a much better dining experience there than at Goofy's Kitchen. It's not crowded at all... and everyone is in their best beach attire!

Sounds so fun!

Fresher? I like the sound of that! AND, one thing I don't care for at Goofy's is how crowded it is!! So, great to know!!!! Really excited now. Thanks for the input!

I agree...Surf's Up is our go to. Much more relaxed and better character interaction. Food selection is better at Goffy's but I think that Surf's Up is fresher and better tasting. They are top of my list for character dining.

We prefer the food at Surf's Up also, and found it overall a more fun experience, we're going back on our September trip but leaving Goofy's Kitchen out for the first time.

I am going against the grain here. I love Goofy's as well -- and I don't like Surf's Up nearly as much. I don't dislike it at all, and I would try it again, but it's just not as appealing as Goofy's is to me. The variety of food is a lot smaller at Surf's Up. My eggs were absolutely terrible, although I know that can happen at any buffet. So it's not the food that made any difference for me. What is notable is that the characters are very attentive -- so much so that I could barely get a bite to eat, which bothered me. There are only 5 characters there, 4 of which are making the rounds from table to table, but the interaction is very good. But Mickey is at this meal, which is a bonus. Plus, Stitch and Daisy are there.

For Character interaction, we loved Surfs Up. At Goofys, the other characters didn't really interact with my teenager. Stitch however ( her fave and the whole reason we were there ) spent a good 10 minutes with her at our table. He spotted that she was carrying a mini stitch attached to her bag and went nuts. When they were up dancing, he came and stole baby Stitch and danced with him cradled in his arms lol

Food wise, we much preferred Goofys.

We have Goofy's for breakfast on our departure day. Surfs up looks great, but we are staying at DLH and I think we will be happy to not have to walk anywhere on our last morning after 4 days in the parks. We've done Chef Mickey's at WDW and figure this will have a similar crowded/loud feel to it. Still, it's very convenient!

How long would you normally spend at Surfs up? And if we have a 7.40 reservation are we likely to get straight in or have to wait for our table?

I have done both and enjoy both. Indeed, on my upcoming trip, I will do both again. However, if I had to choose one only then Surf's Up has the edge for me. They now have the same number of characters. At Surf's Up, Mickey is in his surf shack when you get in and on every occasion that I have been there I had Minnie, Daisy, Pluto and Stitch coming to visit. I have heard sometimes Goofy comes to visit instead of Pluto or Daisy.

At Goofy's Kitchen, Chef Goofy meets people in his kitchen and Servers Chip and Dale, Sous Chef Pluto and Pastry Chef Minnie come to the tables.

Although in terms of food variety, there is more available at Goofy's Kitchen, Surf's Up offers some slightly more unusual choices.
