Goofy Proposes, Fi Falls for Sleeping Beauty & we Celebrate our Engagement NEW 6/18!

I can't beleive how many times you rode EE. Your yummy snack looks great! I can't beleive it was just a snack credit.

Excellent use of snack credits :thumbsup2

3 times on EE and you won't ride RnRC????? :confused3

Thanks for the pics of the bird show. We've never seen it so it's fun to see pics (I have a mild fear of birds smacking me in the head so I avoid that show!)

What a fun afternoon! I agree, two eggrolls for a credit is fantastic-- they're totally filling!

Yeah, we definitely got our fill of EE this trip - I think our total for the week was 5 times! I too was shocked about the egg rolls, I thought it was one eggroll for one credit, but nope, you get two! :thumbsup2 I think I asked the cm a few times before he was finally able to convince me! :lmao:

Those eggrolls are a great value- and tasty too! :thumbsup2 You know, I think if I could just get up the nerves to try RnRC once, I'd probably love it - I'll be attempting it again whenever we return. :rolleyes1

 I think the bird fear is pretty common! I'll admit, they do kind of creep me out too, but the show was really good! You should try it!

Filling and so tasty! :thumbsup2 I could do for one now!

Well, I was totally wrong about what stopped you. I thought you might have seen DiVine. But nothing wrong with the Flights of Wonder show. We watched that for the first time during our May trip last year. You hit the nail right on the head---It is funny, but very informative. :thumbsup2 That bald eagle is breathtaking.:goodvibes

I'm shocked by you, Miss Courtney. EE three time????? But you won't ride RnRc? ;)

Ahhh, DiVine. You know, we did actually get distracted by her too. I should have mentioned it in my update! Unfortunately, we caught her right as she was finishing up, and didn't even get the chance to take a picture. :sad2:

Yes, I'm such as RnRC wimp! :scared: I'm really hoping to change that next time I'm at Disney. I'm going to need some encouragement from all of you! :goodvibes

that was pretty cool! I wanted to see that show too but it was closed cause it was raining. But if it's open and we have time we will definaly go and see it!

Love your hat stops!

Flamingos! Haha I have funny store about that one! I think I was like 3 years old......at the time. Anyways my mom was stationed in California and we went to the Sacramento Zoo to take me around to see the animals. I was in love with Flamingos I think. Because one came ever so gingerly over when I had my back turned to them and plopped his head on my shoulder. I wish I had the picture with me. But it's true! My mom tells me that story everytime I talk about a zoo!

I've never eaten at Yaki & Yeti is it worth it? Or it is more like everyday Asian food you can find at home?

Wow! I can't believe your flamingo story! I would have freaked out. In fact, Miguel and I went to the zoo here a few weeks ago and we went into the parakeet room. I had my sunglasses on top of my head and the bird came by and briefly landed on my sunglasses! :scared1: I like birds, but they kind of freak me out - I don't want them coming anywhere near my head!!

As for the Y&Y cs, this was our first time to get anything from there, and all we had were the eggrolls so I can't comment on the entrees, but our snacks were very tasty! :thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to having a meal there next time we're at Disney.

Sorry it took me so long to post :goodvibes I love that you showed Flights Of Wonder! I have always been curious if this was worth it. I think we may try it next time! My kids would love it, I think!

SO COOL that you road EE so many times! Disney magic there! And it must have been chickens like me who gave you their fastpasses to Dinosaur. I am so impressed you actually rode again!

YUMMY! Those eggrolls are to die for! They look great!

Can't wait to see your pics that you love :lovestruc

Hey Katie! I think FOW is definitely worth it! :thumbsup2 They have some pretty amazing birds and the show is actually really funny. We were laughing the whole time. I think Aiden and Abby would love it!

:lmao: At the dinosaur fastpasses! I don't mind the ride too much now (other than it's soooo jerky) but you should have seen my ride picture from the first time I rode! I was younger and there with my family and it was hilarious! It's definitely shocking the first time!

DAY 5 – Pt. 4

About an hour of so after returning to AKL, I was hungry for some lunch! I had been wanting to try the chicken flatbread from the Mara since it gets such good reviews here and decided this would be the perfect time to do so. FI said he wasn’t hungry so I only picked up lunch for me.

Unfortunately, this pizza didn’t live up to my high hopes. I took a few bites and decided I really didn’t like it. I think it was that green zough sauce? It had a strange flavor – kind of spicy and just not good. FI tried it and decided that, not only did he really like it, but he was pretty hungry now! So I decided to let him eat the flatbread and I ventured back to the Mara for something different for me.

This time I decided on a chicken pita, something else I had been eyeing all week. While it was better than the flatbread, I wasn’t crazy about this one either. There was quite a bit of some sort of red sauce (which I’m guessing was some sort of roasted bell pepper) which I did not like and it completely overpowered the rest of the sandwich.

This however, was great!

After we finished our lunch we found that the animals were enjoying their lunch as well! Luckily, this day was actually nice enough to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the savannah. The pictures from this afternoon are probably my favorite from the trip – I took so many! But the animals were just fascinating to watch as they ate their lunch. You could actually hear the giraffe crunching the stems with his teeth!

I love how in this one, it looks as though one giraffe is eating the other's face!

We considered this guy to be our "friend". He was always hanging out by our room. He pretty much just sat around all day!

There was a private safari going through the savannah this day and we were able to hear some of what the tour guide was saying to the group. We found out that our "friend" was named CJ!

A few more animal pics...

It was so relaxing to just sit there and watch the amazing animals. I’m so glad that we were in our room during this time, because it was the last time during our trip that they were really active.

I believe we also took a short nap this afternoon to rest up for our evening. The plan was to go back to DTD to purchase the souvenirs that we had decided on earlier in the week and afterwards, I wanted to check out Beaches and Cream for dinner.

So after resting up, we headed out to DTD around 7:00. Back to World of Disney we went where we purchased a few souvenirs (I’ll reveal those in a later post).

One day, I will get some ice cream here!

After WOD, I wanted to check out Basin since I’ve read so much about this store.

I loved this place! It had such a light, airy feel and I found myself taking plenty of pictures of the displays.

We of course had to buy something here as well, but I’m going to make you wait to see until my souvie reveal!

After Basin, we checked out the crystal store (can’t remember the name) and marveled over the prices of some of the merchandise there!

By this point, we still weren’t super hungry since we had eaten a pretty late lunch. We also weren’t feeling like venturing out to the BC so our plans to try B&C were done away with – saved for the next trip!

FI was craving another sandwich from EOS, so we got him the club to go. I was craving a cheeseburger so I decided to head back to the Mara when we returned home.

We had a relaxing night of eating in the room and watching tv before we drifted off to sleep.

UP NEXT: Is that sleet?! In Orlando?!

Great update! I'm glad you made the choice to take it easy instead of heading over to B&C. I wish I would have done that numerous times on my trip in December, I made myself sick by the end of the trip because of fear that I would not get everything I wanted done. :sad2:

DH and I are planning on doing the same thing this year as far as souvenirs go, I planned 2 trips to DTD, one for browsing and one for purchasing. :) (Plus that allows us to eat at WGPE and EOS. :thumbsup2) I can't wait to see what you picked out!!! I love Basin, I am definitely buying myself a good supply this year, the last two times I only got like two tubes of bath salt and they didn't last me very long. :sad2:

The animals outside your balcony are just amazing! I hope to one day take my sister to WDW and have her stay at AKL.

You and your FI look like such a nice couple! You remind me a lot of me and my DH. :)

Yeah, even though I was really looking forward to B&C, it probably was the best decision to just spend the evening in the room - we were both really tired that night! Plus, the way I look at it, if we miss something - well that's just more new things to try on our next trip! :goodvibes

I think it's definitely best to make multiple stops in WOD and designate one as a "no buy" trip. Otherwise, I would spend sooooo much money in there! I walk in and just want to buy everything! And, it leaves something to look forward to towards the end of the trip :rolleyes1

Thanks for your kind words! :goodvibes And thanks for reading along!

Awww man! I was thinking "that pizza looks really good". Sorry it was not as good as you thought! Cheesecake looks AWESOME though!

I really want to go to DTD. I can not WAIT To see what you bought! We went to the Basin store in GF when we stayed there in 08, but that one looks really cool!

I love your update, Courtney. :)

I was thinking that the chicken flatbreat looked yummy from your picture. Too bad it didn't measure up in taste for you. :sad2:

The giraffes are beautiful! :goodvibes I kind of thought it looked like that one was kissing the other one! :lovestruc

Bummer about your flatbread not being what you had hoped. It certainly LOOKED good! I'm drooling over my computer screen now, to tell you the truth. But I really should be more careful about the times of day that I read TR's. It's too close to lunch to be looking at yummy Disney food!

What a tease about your purchases ;) :rotfl: I still haven't been to Basin and I don't know if it's in the cards for our next trip. We'll have to see. We didn't get to DTD at all in October and I don't have it planned for next month (trying to avoid the Dooney and Burke purse ;))

Little disappointed with your flatbread review...I was so going to try that this time :sad2:

One day, I will get some ice cream here!
I would love to get some ice cream there, but I do not want to wait in their crazy lines! Even in the slow times - Sept. - the line was super crazy long. I can just smell those bath bombs.:cloud9:
(trying to avoid the Dooney and Burke purse )
Oh my gosh!!! Have you seen the DB purse thread? Man I could spend mega $$$$$!!!

Sorry you didn't really like either of the lunches-- glad your fiance found something he really liked though! I loved Basin, too! I really wish I had picked up some things there.

The cheesecake was soooo good! I had it twice during the week and both times it was excellent :thumbsup2 In fact, I really preferred it over the much-hyped zebra domes :confused3

Isn't Basin great?! I just loved the look and feel of that store! We spent a lot of time there. I wish we had of bought more from there, but I have super sensitive skin so unfortunately I can't use most of the stuff :sad2:

Thanks Michelle! :goodvibes Yes, I think the flatbread looks better than it tastes - I was so not impressed. :guilty: But at least Miguel liked it so it didn't go to waste.

I was enamored with the giraffes the whole trip, they are such amazing animals! I felt so lucky that their "feeding spot" was right near our balcony.
