We are staying at OKW, via a rental in Jan. We have sveral children under the age of 6 and I am not wanting to sit down at Olivia's for meals. What does the Goods to go offer as far as choices for food go. Could we survive on some take out from there a few times during our stay?

Also, my only request was a fist floor room, we are staying in a 2 bedroom, when I am offered a room, are there any that are worse(as if that is possible) than any others as far as buildings are concerned to stay away from? If we don't get first floor I am hopingfor one of the newer buildings with an elevator for our double stroller.

Thanks, Christy :earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: princess: princess: princess: :bounce:

Here is the menu:

I know you can also order anything from the Olivia's Menu "to go" at the Goods counter if you wish to so your plan is sound and you will be able to get decent food from the Good's to go counter.

:sunny:

As for room location depends on your priority - do you want to be close to bus stop or hospitality house or one of the quiet pools or is non-smoking your first priority?

thanks

We just returned from OKW & stayed in building 42 in a 2BR, first floor. It was directly across from the Turtle Pond Pool, which has a small snack bar there also that you can get sandwiches at. I believe any building in this area would be great. It's also close to a bus stop.

Also, I had requested 1st floor on my ressie but when we checked in were told we were getting 2nd or 3rd floor. My dad (my parents met us there) has a bad leg & I really wanted 1st floor so he didn't have to do stairs. I asked about elevators & were told there aren't any at OKW, so I really pushed for 1st floor.

Also, I believe Goods to Go is only sandwiches & light snacks. You may be better off getting bagels, lunchmeat, etc. & just making a few things in your room for convenience.

Have fun while you're there - you'll love OKW. We rented points from an owner last year, loved it so much that we came home & bought a resale.

Melsmice - there are elevators at OKW in buildings 62 & 63 (I believe those are the right numbers).

Melsmice-
I have read on this board that the newest buildings at OKW have elevators. I am sure my daughter said there was one in building 63 when she stayed there. Thought you should know for future reference. It sound like someone gave you bad info.

Thanks for the heads up on the elevators. I was actually reading another thread after I posted my experience & someone said there are elevators in the buildings you both mentioned. I guess they are the "newer" buildings.

ou got the Goods To Go menu...we ate lunch there whenwe were going to the main pool, and it was pretty good food. Nice to sit by the ppol and snack. Not fancy, but, as I said, pretty darn good.

If you are renting a studio, you will have a kitchenette type thing, which will have a dorm-size fridge, a coffeemaker and a microwave. There are a couple of grocery stores close by...Publix and Winn Dixie...so it might behoove you to think about doing a quick grocery trip to stock up on a few snack and breakfast items. If you are staying in a 1BR or larger, you will have a full kitchen, with normal appliances, so oyu could really go nuts with food if you wanted to.

DH and I usually pick up some easy breakfast items(English muffins, juice, cereal etc) and some snack-type food(chips, dip, cookies), along with our beverages of choice. It is nice to relax in your room with a little snack. We do not cook full meals in the room, but I know some folks do, and if you are in a 1BR or larger, you'd certainly have the ability to do that, if you so desire.

I know the higher number buildings(I want to say 62,63,64)have elebvators, should you need an elevator. As far as location in the complex, if you want to be very close to the main area(Hospitality House, Conch Flats)where check-in, the gift shop, the main pool, bike/boat rental are all located, then I would suggest picking the lower-numbered units. If you want to be a little more secluded, then I would pick the higher numbered units(excpet for buildings 62,63,64 which, even though they are higer numbered are actually very close to the main area). We recently stayed in building 56 which was very nicely located...there was a quiet pool and a bus stop within a short walking distance...but it was very far from the main area.

Olivia was trying a take out service - which I think is now part of their services - you call them -tell them what you want over the phone (go by the restuarant ask for menus for all the meals-they are right across from check-in) - then go get it.

Doc would know for sure - but I think you can still do this way.

spiceycat, you are correct, you can call in advance for takeout as well

thanks

Thanks, you all have been very helpful. I love the menu link... very helpful especially since we are choosing between Sci-Fi Diner and Prime Time Cafe for our first night.

We are looking to buy, from what I have read about OKW it sounds like we will love it. Maybe we will look into a resale. Although it may not be so quiet and relaxing after we arrive, with our 5 kids all too excited about seeing Mickey. ::yes::
