CONGRATS, and welcome to the DIS!!! I am glad to see that SOG is doing so well after re-opening! Let's all hope that lots of our brave service men and women are getting to take some much deserved R and R at WDW!!! Lacee
When did the SOG call you, and when are your reservations for because I am going the week of 4 - 10 april and have been a little concerned about the room renovations not being done by then and SOG having booked more rooms than will be available.
Did they give you a choice or did they just say your going to be staying at the other resort?

We got the Fed-Ex letter early last week and picked the option to keep our ressies as is. Then, on Thursday (3-18) they called us telling us we had to change. Our ressies are for 3-21 to 3-28.

Under the circumstances, I wonder why on earth they overbooked rooms when they did not even know for sure if the renovations would be completed on time. I would think they would have just booked the original 200 something rooms until it was confirmed that the "new" additional rooms would be ready for occupancy. I think perhaps there was some bad planning involved here.
We have ressies April 15-23....I suppose we could end up anywhere!!???
Man that is sweet!! We are staying at POFQ in April. Tried for SOG back in Oct. but they were full. Got great overflow rates, though I like your deal better! Have a great time.
I don't know about this situation, I went on WDW site just to see what rooms they had available for the week that I will be there and there was practically nothing available except for a room at the wilderness lodge, not to mention the money I have already spent on airfare. I sure hope that they have more rooms at their disposal then a person can get on their own.
I think waiting until the last minute to notify someone that they are seriously overbooked is extremely poor planning.
I certainly think that the original posters experience of getting the other rooms for free is a very nice thing and quite fortunate, but some of us might not be so lucky, we may not get any rooms at all.

Don't even say that!! I just cancelled my other 3 ressies I had because Shades said it is going to be completely open by March 31. All I know is that I better be on-site if I have to be relocated with the rest of my party!!!
Well, no doubt that would be fine with anyone I imagine, however I don't believe that the SOG sends people to that hotel. I believe we would only be sent to hotels that the SOG has use of for overflow status. For myself the week that I am going there doesn't appear to be anything available in any of the hotels that they would normally use. Personally I am not really interested in staying at the POR and definately not the all stars for free or not, because the rooms are much smaller and certainly not comparable in location.
I just hope that they had enough sense to book some rooms at the overflow hotels for the week I will be there since it appears that most of WDW is full across the board and I doubt that I will be the only person with this same problem.
