DD and her best friend are having a joint birthday party tonight (their birthdays are only 10 days apart). Part of the plan was to watch a movie on her friends new home theater (well her friend's DAD's theater, lol). The plan was to watch the Disney flick "That Darn Cat" but I guess that hasn't been released yet, so, any other ideas for a vintage flick for them to watch. We wanted something that the girls probably haven't seen before to hold their interest. I know the class watched "Your's, Mine and Ours" and most of the girls have seen both versions of "Parent Trap", any other suggestions?

I think I saw "That Darn Cat" at Sams club the other day.

This was the original version, not the 1997 remake with Cristina Ricci.

How about a good ol' Shirley Temple movie such as "Heidi"? Or Black Beauty, or The Black Stallion?

Pollyanna or Moon Spinners ............ most kids haven't seen either one and my DD (age 11) loves them!

The Parent Trap - the first version.

I love the Moon Spinners.

How about "The Ugly Dachshund"? I'm not sure who made it but it's a cute movie about a couple who have a couple of dachshunds and then adopt a great dane.

The Trouble With Angels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my all time favorite movie EVER! It came out in the theatres back in the mid-sixties, when I was around 10 years old. It stars Hayley Mills and Rosiland Russell. The movie revolves around the mischievous adventures of two girls who have been sent to a Catholic boarding school. It starts with their first year and continues through their graduation. It is a funny movie, but also has some very poignant moments, especially at the end. There was a sequel made, Where Trouble Goes Angels Follow, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first.

Moon Spinners is also a good movie for kids.

Another vote for Pollyanna and the original Parent Trap. I don't think you can miss with either one of those.

But how about Old Yeller? I know it only has boys in the film, but that movie gets me very time! I just love that Ol' Yeller Dawg!!

how about since the remake is coming out eventually, the orginal Herbie?

I loved this one too! Actually, anything with Hayley Mills when I was younger was a favorite, such as Moon Spinners.

Other older Disney flicks DD really enjoyed are:
The Ugly Daschund
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Pete's Dragon
The Apple Dumpling Gang & sequel (I know it's a Western & you think "boys" but they're really, really funny!)
Swiss Family Robinson
The Barefoot Executive, The Shaggy DA, Monkey's Uncle... - any of those Frankie & Annette ones)

Also, not Disney but...she loves the Neverending Story movies.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Can I come?? :teeth:

How about the Beethovan movies (with the St Bernard). Also the ones where the pets get lost (Homeward Bound, I think). I'm not good with movie titles.

I take it you are looking specifically for something available on DVD? How about the Sound of Music (maybe too long?)? I second (or third) the vote for National Velvet. Old Yeller is VERY SAD!! I'll try to think of more.....P

Not Disney, but Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang? I loved that movie!

The Apple Dumpling Gang
Its impossible to find, but I have Child of Glass(got it off ebay)

Annie

The Secret Garden

The Little Princess

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Not Disney, but...anyone ever seen "Savannah Smiles?"

It was one of my all-time faves as a kid. A little rich girl is ignored by her mom and dad, so she decides to run away. She hides in the getaway car of two escaped convicts. One's a hardend criminal, the others a lovable idiot. Well, you can guess what happens, they all fall in love with each other and form a unlikey family. It's sooo sweet. I have it on DVD. Think I ordered it from amazon.com.
