Good summer reads...suggestions??

If you liked those then read her bride quartet series. The first one is Vision in White, and the others are Bed of Roses, Savor the Moment and Happy Ever After.

It's the story of 4 best friends who own a wedding business. One is the photographer, one does the flowers, one bakes the cakes and the fourth is the wedding planner. They are all great characters, and all 4 are featured prominently in all 4 books. I've read them all several tmes.

Along the same lines as Nora Roberts but a little (lot?) steamier, is the Sullivan Series by Bella Andre. There are 8 books about 8 siblings and they are a very good read. I was hooked after the first one and didn't want them to end after the 8th one. Apparently I wasn't alone, because so many people have written to her that they were sad to see them end, that she has just started a new series about the Sullivans'cousins. I just finished rhe first one in tha series and it was good as well. :)

I will have to keep these in mind. Thank you!

If you have an kindle (or non-nook) reader: Yellow Crocus by Laila Ibrahim is currently available on Amazon for $0.00. it is a good book, a heartwarming story; however, it is not a "great" book. (Personally - this is a great book to download - just to have for a rainy day...)

Got it :thumbsup2

The Shoemaker's Wife by Adrianna Trigiani

The Aviator's Wife by ? (I can't remember but it is a historical fiction book about Anne Morrow Linbergh)

I really enjoyed the Big Stone Gap books by Trigiani, but I didn't care for The Shoemaker's Wife. Maybe I was expecting something different, but I had to force myself to finish it.

The Wilderness series by Sara Donati is a good one for summer reads.

All the suggestions sound great! For some reason, during the summer & especially sitting by Storm Along Bay, I prefer a light read that's sexy, steamy, juicy, hot & funny combined. Maybe it's the break in reality & when I can have my adult beverage delivered to my lounge chair that's all part of the fun of a vacation. Am I totally nuts for wanting a real book, like from the book store? The past few years, my iBooks drained the heck out of my phone battery, not to mention my addiction to DIS & the wait times apps!!

The Last Original Wife by Dorothea Frank

The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls. :)

The Sookie Stackhouse (aka True Blood) novels are a lot of fun too.

If you want a thriller...can't put it down type of book...Still Missing by Chevy Stevens is a fabulous book - is available on Amazon Kindle for $2.99. This was a great book!

I'm reading Still Missing right now!! Very good and worth the 2.99 on my Nook gift card!!

I'm just finishing up "Under the Dome" ...1,000 pages that I've burned through in a week and I hadn't picked up a Stephen King book in decades! It's a very engaging and suspenseful story but not supernatural or crawl-out-of-your-skin creepy. Bravo Stephen King!! (Although I was hoping it would tide me over a bit longer...I'm about at the end of my patience waiting for the next volume in the Ice & Fire series.)

Spoiler Alert: It is NOTHING like the new TV series...I wonder how much they paid him for the rights since it seems like all they bought was the title. Very frustrated with the first two episodes...

Really easy to read chick lit... Marie Force's McCarthys of Gansett Island

Quick books that are super cheap. The series follows a group of characters through relationships. I have the first three and love them. Can't wait to sit down and read number 4

Recently finished The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult. Not a light chick lit book but still a great read.

Am currently reading Defending Jacob (can't remember the author). I'm about 50 pages in and so far it's got my attention.

My all time favorite summer read is Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart. It is her memoir working at Tiffany in NYC on her summer college break during 1945. A wonderful read.

I'm reading something good right now that I will recommend. I'm about 25% in and just started it late last night - I really like it so far! :goodvibes The Last Original Wife by Dorothea Benton Frank.

The Last Original Wife by Dorothea Frank

I am a huge fan of Dorothea Benton Frank! She's written fourteen books, and the only one I haven't read yet is The Last Original Wife, which I plan on buying this week. She is one of several authors that I don't download onto my Kindle. I'd rather have the actual book to add to my collection.:)

Her first book, Sullivan's Island, remains one of my favorite books ever. The follow-up, Plantation, is also terrific. All of her books are great for summertime, poolside, beach side reading.:)

Another really good summer read is a trilogy by Mary Alice Monroe- Beach House, Swimming Lessons and Beach House Memories. Her newest book, The Summer Girls, is next on my list of summertime books.

Also looking forward to reading:
The Astronaut Wives Club (Koppel)
Island Girls (Thayer)
Sweet Salt Air (Delinsky)
The Girls of August (Siddons)

I'm hitting B&N this afternoon with everyone's suggestions. I'm going to try something different & get the actual book rather than iBook on iPhone. Trying to save my battery & minimize wait while battery is charging. We'll see how that goes. May have to get iPad or iPad mini at some point. Keep the suggestions coming!! I love them all.

Another suggestion, the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter!!! Awesome read. the series includes Triptych, Fractured, Undone, Broken, Fallen. I have only read the first two, and need to get the rest.

You will love it! I finished it today. It was the first book of hers I'd ever read, and I'm going to be on the lookout for her others. :goodvibes

Crazy Little Thing by Tracy Brogan
A great beach read! Everything you are looking for! Sexy, juicy, funny, kinda cheesy! loved it.

I've read 2 books by Elin Hilderbrand and enjoyed both. First was The Castaways and other was Sunmerland. Easy reads that kept me reading.

Hello all! It has been a while since I have read any good books. I used to love to read when I was in my 20's but here lately it seems all I have time for is my magazines and my favorite online sites.

Just wanted some suggestions for some good books to read by the pool or just sitting out on the back porch. I love Nora Roberts, so any suggestions there would be great too! Also...has anyone read 50 shades of Grey? I was thinking about some thing along those lines.

Thanks in advance!! :goodvibes

On the recommendation of my granddaughter, I am currently reading Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. It is a award winning science fiction series that involves using children for warfare purposes. So far it is quite good. Also, it will be released as a move this fall starring Harrison Ford as one of the instructors.

Another vote for Still Missing by Chevy Stevens....I have recommended that book to several friends.

I just finished Fly Away by Kristin Hannah. It was good and a very quick read but I think Firefly Lane was better. I'm reading Beautiful Day by Elin Hilderbrand right now and it's going pretty quick, too. I've enjoyed all of her books that I've read so far.
