For anybody who is able to fly out of Buffalo, there are some attractive fares on Southwest to Orlando this December. I just requested December 3rd - December 10th, and was quoted a total price of $486 in U.S. dollars for 4 people, non-stop to Orlando, all taxes included. There may also be an additional charge of $2.50 per person per leg of the journey, so another $10.00 total in our case. Even when converted to Canadian dollars, that's pretty attractive! I'm still anxiously awaiting their fares for January.

You do have to carefully read the restrictions, but if you're sure of your dates, you have to love those prices. Our best price out of Toronto last year was about twice that amount, with the horrendous Canadian taxes & surcharges taken into account.

Their website is at www.southwest.com.

Heh Cindy Ann

My family found a great deal out of Buffalo to Orlando with Southwest for this Sept. we are paying $510 Canadian total for 3 people. The cheapest we could find out of Pearson was $444 each person. We plan on spending one night in Buffalo before we leave and even when you add the hotel cost the savings are unbelieveable!!

We have never flown Southwest before and are a little worried about different things we have heard but for a savings of more than $500 we will suck it up!!

8 days and counting!!:D :D :D

Hi CindyAnn, thanks for the great fare info. I was wondering, have you flown from Buffalo before? How did you get there? How long did it take to drive? Thanks, Sandra

Nancy - With savings like that you just can't ignore the option of leaving from Buffalo, can you? I understand that some of the limitations on Southwest are that seats are not pre-assigned, and they don't serve food. Mind you, based on my experience, no food might actually be considered to be a bonus. I hope your trip is great, and hope you'll post when you get back, telling us all about it. I know I read awhile ago that there's a Buffalo airport hotel (Hilton? Holiday Inn? Howard Johnson?) for $79 per night, which also includes up to 2 weeks free parking. I think I could probably find the post again if you're interested. Since most of the flights I see out of Buffalo are before 8:00 a.m., I think I'd rather be on the spot the night before.

SandraC - No, we haven't flown out of Buffalo before, but will be giving it some serious thought for our next Disney vacation. It also sounds like a great alternative for anyone travelling during March break, when Pearson airport is an absolute mad house.

I've even thought of the option of flying out of Hamilton.

Hi Sandra! How are you doing?:)

Just to add a little to your last post....there aren't flights to Florida yet through Mount Hope (Hamilton) Airport yet. They're just trying out flights to the Domincan,Cuba and Mexico starting this Dec. thru March for now. We're really hoping that they start flights from our airport as we live about a 10 minute drive from there!;) It's really a nice airport too so hopefully we'll see, if they get the response they're hoping for they'll start trips to Florida too!

Say hi to those sweet little kiddies for me!

I just read that they don't serve food on SW. Do they serve snacks? Drinks? Are you permitted to bring your own? Thanks!

From what I have read on the transportation Boards the serve peanuts and or Trail Mix. Lots of people bring their own food on the palne and you can usually smell the hamburgers all over the plane. My plan is to get some Buger King breakfast ,as I have heard there is a B.K. iin the Buffalo airport.
Oh and they also serve pop/ water and juice.

I just got back flying with Delta, was a good trip but had to have a connecting
flight both ways, and also did not get any food. For info on Buffalo airport
and hotels go to www.nfta.com

We just flew out of Southwest a few months ago and it was great. The staff was hilarious, the price was awesome, and we stayed at the Holiday Inn airport for $40 US (priceline), and they kept our car for 2 weeks. Their shuttle service is excellent. The picked us up from the airport within 5 minutes of our calling them. The boarding passes are done in groups of 30 and we had no problem for 5 of us to sit together. They served drinks and cookies on the way down and drinks and nuts on the way home.
