Hello:

Any recommendations of restaurants outside of disney with good breakfast buffet.

Deb.

Golden Corral has a good breakfast buffet: an omlette bar (they will also fry eggs for you if you want) all the sides you can think of. The only drawback to the place is that it doesn't open up early enough for you to have a meal and be done in time to be back at the parks for opening, so we'll go to a cheaper buffet like Ponderosa and go to GC on an off day.

If you get there around 10:30am you have time for a good breakfast then will still be there when they start putting out the lunch items, brunch for the price of breakfast :)

Which GC and Ponderosa locations are the better/cleaner locations to go to? We'll be staying near the 7800 blk. of 192W.

The GC on 192 in Celebration is nice, so is the one on Vineland Ave off 535, right near Downtown Disney. The one on International Drive and Sand Lake Rd is too small, we saw it get totally overwhelmed when a bus came in and I doubt we'll ever go back in there.

Ponderosas all seem to be about the same as far as appearance, cleanliness and quality of food (which doesn't even come close to GC). Their main advantage is they open early.

What sort of buffet do you really want? Very inexpensive with low quality food, or something you pay a bit more for but have lovely food?

Peabody's has a wonderful champagne brunch...

Check out the larger hotels for nicer choices.

If you do want a Golden Corral kind of place stick with the one nearest DTD, it's at least fast moving so the food is usually up to temperature.

Meant to say the Celebration Hotel has a really nice breakfast buffet. Fresh berries, hot foods, pastries... excellent service.

The Celebration discontinued their breakfast buffet last year, they only offer a la carte items.

That is only offered on holidays. It's $70 per adult and $27 per child under 11. Next one is Easter, then Mother's Day.

That's odd. We just had breakfast there. Maybe they only do it on weekends, or perhaps only for guests of the hotel.

Peabody has one scheduled for Valentine's Day according to someone who works there.

Thanks for the info. guys!

Has anyone tried the GC located at 7702 W. Irlo Bronson Hwy.? I thought I read this was a new one. We may be having a few breakfast's here (along with Cracker Barrel) since it's so close to where we're staying.

Sweet Tomatoes has a BOGO coupon for Sunday breakfast. The coupon I have expires 2/28/10. You have to signup on their website for coupons.
Where is the location on Vineland. We are staying at Marriott Cypress harbour?

I have a couple times, my roommate's a fan. It's clean. Service can be pokey, but in the morning that's generally just coffee (you get your own juice). The food is...what it is. In fairness, I'd go here over the Shoneys a block away.

Very easy to go from here up Sherbeth Road and back door into the parks, which is nice.

Shoney's also gives you a choice of the buffet or their regular breakfast menu if you don't want to load up.

I appreciate the tips everybody!

Jason, you've just helped me expand our breakfast choices. I've seen (and heard mention of) Shoney's down there, but since they turned to crap here at home (...and my state is down to one, I think) I didn't even contemplate going there. I think we'll give them both a try.

Pursey (hope you don't mind me nickin' your name :) ), having the menu vs. buffet option for our group will be a plus and is an excellent tip. Thank you. I'd imagine some might not be as hungry as others some mornings and paying for a buffet when you're not that hungry would be a waste.

Can anybody tell I don't plan to make much use of our kitchen...at least not for any sort of major cooking :rotfl:. Hey. I'll be on VACATION. I do enough of that at home.

You will spot the Sweet Tomatoes on the right of I-4 going west just before the Hwy 535 exit. Turn right off the exit and it's in the same center as Goodings and TGI Fridays. Right next to the interstate past Fridays.

That's called Crossroads, across from the entrance to Downtown Disney.

Just to stress, it's really far back there, past the TGI Fridays. You kind of have to trust it's there once you pull into the parking lot. :goodvibes

Only one exit up from Cypress Harbor, maybe a 5 minute drive.

Thanks for the info. Can't wait to try Sweet Tomatoes...We usually go to Perkins which is in the same section. Never noticed Sweet Tomatoes there.

Goofy’s Kitchen is a good option also, all you can eat ‘Buffet’ offers Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. At the buffet, you can enjoy Mickey Mouse Waffles, made to order omelets and peanut butter and jelly pizza. Don’t forget your camera!

Where is that? Is it on property?
