i've read a couple of old threads where people mentioned it's possible to find good DVC resales if you know where to look to find individuals selling their DVC (NOT through a broker).

how much cheaper are these resales really vs. resales you find through brokers?
how much $ per point can you save?

i realize this route is a lot of work... but i was thinking about looking around to see what's out there.

also, i know about TUG as a place to look, but where else can you find private sales?

Someone posted on another forum that he found most of his good DVC deals through Ebay. No matter how cheap a resale may be it stilll has to get through Disney's ROFR, so you may end up losing that good deal in the end anyway. The seller never loses out because he gets his money one way or the other.

Given DVD's ROFR, about the only "savings" you'd get with a private resale is the broker's commission. Since the seller would not have this expense, he/she may be willing to take less for the contract. As mentioned, the sale still has to get by Disney.
TUG, EBAY and/or friends are the only places I know of to find "private resales". Maybe those brokers really do provide a service to earn that commission, huh? :teeth:

The real advantage of a private sale goes to the seller, who won't have any broker commission to pay. The buyer will pay the same regardless because Disney still gets to review the sale and has the right to buy the contract at the same terms offered by the buyer if they choose.

Regardless which approach is taken, the buyer will pay the same, but the seller would walk away with a few more dollars with the private sale.
