We need an area rug (around 5 x 8). We are not looking for spending a ton of money on anything fancy but want something decent. Where to shop? I haven't looked for a rug in years! Thanks!

Agreed that Lowes has a good selection. HomeGoods usually has some nice ones, and you can sometimes find deals at Tuesday Morning. Ikea might also be an option.

Overstock.com they usually have inexpensive shipping costs too :)

How about Craig's list? Make sure of coarse you don't go alone and into a bad area of town but I got a great deal on a washer and dryer (like new) that way! Also Yard Sales!!!

I saw some on ebay, that were less than $100. Don't know the quality, but they are the same ones sold at penneys and qvc. I was thinking about ordering one from ebay.

If you have one in your area. Ikea has beautiful rugs and they are inexspensive :goodvibes

Another vote for Lowe's. They often have the 5x7 size on sale for $109 and you can carry it right out.

I've seen some nice ones at Target. Also, if you are near Ikea, it's defintely worth checking out their selection.

Overstock has a HUGE selection, but be aware that colors may not be as they appear on the computer. I've had to send rugs back to them twice. The first time they covered the return shipping, but the next time I got stuck with it.

I've got a nice collection of new and old rugs. Be sure to get padding for under the rug. It extends the life of the rug by keeping it's shape and keeps it from moving around or curling at the ends.

Thanks! The only one we have now is from Lowes from about 2004 and is in perfect shape still. We are getting wood floors. Is there a certain thing to put under the rug that wont make a stain on the wood? Some of those pads bleed unto the floor.

Just wanted to mention that Overstock has a 10% discount on area rugs- not sure how long the promo is good for but I just got the email today. Also if you shop through Ebates, Overstock offers a 3% rebate. Always read the reviews first before making a purchase there but usually their textiles are very good quality.

We got one from Marshall's a couple of months ago and really like it. They had lots of different sizes and styles. I had been looking at Overstock for months and was afraid to buy online without really being able to tell what the colors would look like in actuality, and stumbled onto a table full at Marshall's, found one I really liked and bought it.

A friend got an adorable rug for her son's nursery from Overstock. She really likes it. Once our baby's room is done, I plan on checking there!
