A few months ago I post and wanted your opinions about whether we should cancel or not. My DH works for a GM dealership, that GM is closing, therfore my DH will be losing his job in about a year.:headache: We could have gotten our deposit back but not airfare. Then DH father passed away unexpectantly and we decided to go even if it really wasn't in our budget. Life is just too short. And the kids are only young once. I also quite smoking and that is how we are paying for most of the trip. I have saved over $1800 in less than a year from not smoking. And now the big news----My DH has a new job. Starts 2 days before we go and they are ok with him being gone for a week then back to work. Things are starting to fall into place. Now if we could only sell his dad's land(anyone want some cheap land in northern WI):rotfl: Thanks to everyone for your opinions and thoughts. The DIS is the best!

Yay!:banana::banana: I love good news! It's great that things are working out for your family. Have a wonderful trip!

Congrats on quitting smoking, too - that's a great accomplishment and one worthy of the "What are you celebrating?" theme!

Congrats for your DH's good news! That's awesome to hear!

And CONGRATS to you for quitting! Think about how much money you'll save, not just in NOT buying the ciggies, but also in health care down the road... The first year I went down to WDW when I was 10 was because my Dad quit smoking, and put aside the money he would have spent to pay for the trip. Such a better way to spend your money!!

:thumbsup2

other than the death, that is all great news!

expecially you quitting smoking~~~~now that is something to celebrate :cool1:

glad it is all working out for you and your family

So sorry to hear about your father -in-laws passing.

Happy to hear that your DH got a new job, you quit smoking and you are still able to go on vacation.:cheer2:

I completely understand what you were going through with your Dh's job. My Dh works for Chrysler and we were very worried his dealership would be forced to close, luckily his dealership was spared. We are hoping to make a trip to Disney in 2010 but, it is taking a while for our finances to spring back after his salary took a hit from the slow down in the car business.

where is your land? is there somewhere I can find a listing for it? pm me?

YEAH about your trip :woohoo:

We had a similar "blessing in disguise" when DH lost both of his parents within a year:sad1:. We were able to take a part of the inheritance money and use it to finally buy a small DVC contract which we never could have financed. Now, we can take our kids and grandkids to WDW and tell them that it is all thanks to Grandma and Grandpa.

My DH is looking for some hunting property near the UP. PM me with the details also, please.

KristinRice- I sent you a PM, let me know if you want any more info.

Thanks again everyone. After 15 years of smoking I can actually say I (think) have beat the urge. I really never crave them anymore and feel great. However I have gained a few pounds. I will work on that after we get back.

Have a good night!
