Ugh..the good, the bad and the ughly!!
Good news first!!! The meeting my son-in-law and I attended tonight was great! I started the ball rolling and then he spoke up and voiced some of his concerns and questions.. Lots of helpful info and he was VERY attentive and even brought home some literature to read.. It's almost certain she'll be leaving the hospital for four hours tomorrow and then coming home on Friday.. Part of it is because the doctor feels the meds are adjusted right and she's definitely making progress and now has the support of both myself (which obviously was always there) and more importantly, her DH.. The doctor said he has seen family members "fake" acceptance and understanding and her DH is NOT one of them.. He's positive he's sincere and will follow through with whatever comes.. Of course the "other" part is the insurance company.. They have this notion that everything from depression to severe schizophrenia can be CURED in a maximum of 7 days.. Umm hmm..
Bad news is that it appears her job DEFINITELY has to go - UNLESS she can drop down to a part-time schedule with a SET 8 hour day and she has already said she can't do that.. Either she stays or she leaves... So - the search for a "new" career is on.. (I'll post another thread about that later..)
The ughly is that I spent about $150 two weeks ago to deal with a plumbing problem we were having here.. (We have a septic..) The drains were running real slow and making a "gurgling" noise when I flushed the toilet so I thought the tank had to be emptied because it hadn't been in several years.. Got that done (the $150) but the problem persisted.. Bought some VERY heavy duty drain cleaners but still had the slow drains and gurgling.. Now keep in mind this house is OVER 60 yrs. old, so it doesn't have the traditional (through the roof) drain vent.. Instead, it's a curved pipe right outside the bathroom wall.. (It curves downward..) So I took a bath and of course the tub drained extremely slow.. Then I flushed the toilet and I got the gurgling again and thought I could hear water running outside.. I went out and around to the side of the house and sure enough, there was water and "stuff" coming out of that vent pipe..
I remember this happening once before - a long, long time ago - and I had Roto Router come and clean the drain from the septic back into the house, so I'm figuring there's something stuck somewhere along the drain line that's causing this problem... So -first thing tomorrow morning I'm going to have to call them.. The lowest estimate I was able to get late this afternoon was $198 !! Like I have an extra two hundred bucks laying around that I can just toss down the toilet - literally! But, I gotta do what I gotta do...
So - that's tonights update.. The good, the bad and the ughly!
