Thanks Kelly. I've never tried a Sigma lens but their 55-200 doesn't get such rave reviews by users @ dpreview.com. Hopefully their new lens' are better quality.

Kelly, from my experience, Sigma lenses sucks big time. Get a Canon lens and Canon camera or don't buy a camera.

Whoa! I know you're a newcomer to the forum and i should be nice and all to you but come on! Is this a flame bait or something? Not everything made by Canon is great in the eyes of everybody. besides, not everybody has the budget to buy Canon everthing. Furthermore, every lens manufacturer have their own colour/contrast characteristics. Heck, even Canon vs Canon L series have different colour characteristics.

Okay, I'm off tangent here. The main point is if somebody already bought an Evolt body or Panasonic body, unless there issomething seriously wrong with it, they are not going to change their system just because somebody say "everything sucks except Canon".

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Canon lover but saying "get a Canon or nothing else" is plain dumb!

okay, okay.... enough rant. If I'm not at a public library while typing this I would be screaming my lungs off due to your arrogance.

OK I have to agree with Kelly here(I dont always).

Saying all Sigma lenses suck is like saying "ALL Ford cars suck because my dads 1972 Pinto overheats".

Sigma does make LOW END $50 lenses, and so does Canon.

Everyone here is entitled to their opinion, but blanket statements will be challenged.

Maybe in the past they did but there are some lenses made by Sigma that are prefered over OEM lenses.

K9Z9WZ,

I use Sigma lens for my daily usage. Here's a pic a took past weekend. Do you still think it "sucks"?

Must be the dark side of the moon on the photo boards lately. For some Canon folks lately, since the 30D came out, people who think they are professionals have lost their grip. By the way, nice pic.

Thank you for the compliments.

It was taken using a Canon 300D, Sigma 18-125 lens, Sigma 500 DG Super flash with Gary-Fong diffuser. No post processing.

Kelly, do you find that the Gary Fong vs Sto-Fen vs softbox is situational and how do you like the the Sigma flash?

Jack pirate:

LOOOOOVE the Sigma flash. The only thing that it can't do compared to the Canon 580 EX is burst. With the 580 EX, you can have 4 bursts no problem. With Sigma you can only get 3 and you'll need to wait another 30 second before you can do another set of bursts.

I've used Sto-Fen and Gary Fong only. Gary Fong seems to be warmer in colour and much less "shadow next to your subject" thingie compared to the Sto-Fen. Never used the Lumiquest Soft Box (too pricey for my blood)
