We were told that after the sale of the Disney Stores we will still be giving DVCers a 10% discount. Of course this is all subject to change, but we are finally getting a little bit of information so I thought I would share!

This is great news Terry! Thanks for letting us know. Not to be nosey, but will the CM's be able to receive any kind of Disney discounts anymore?

Any discount is good news. While many of us won't use it, there are many that will. Thanks for the info.

Just got 10% off today with the DVC card, buying Aladdin and Mulan DVDs.

I assume the stores haven't been sold yet.

Papers are set to be signed on 11-21-04. It will be a very sad day for me.

I was at our local D.S. on Friday and was told upon presenting my DVC card to the C.M. at the register that they no longer give the discount. I assumed it was due to the sale of the stores and didn't question her response. Luckily the store manager was standing closeby and said: "We certainly do still give a discount to DVC members. For the amount of money they've invested -- they earned it!" Apparently the woman waiting on me thought I was showing her a "Disney Club" card. Jeez, how long has that been gone now? Three cheers for the store manager!!!

Now, if there was only something to buy there.
I really miss the watches and the collectibles.

They do seem to be offering more adult merchandise than they have in the recent past. There would have to be more of a selection to tempt me back on a regular basis.

I do appreciate being able to buy WDW tickets there. For this trip, only some of us needed tickets - a 5 Day Park Hopper - no pluses. TDS have the best price. I considered a couple of the other brokers, but the prices were basically the same and it would not be convenient for us to pick them up - we'd have to give up part of our Sea World Day.

Best wishes -

I am with Don.

There is NOTHING there I want and I am afraid it will get worse. I can't be convinced The Children's Store will have adult merchandisers!

The last time we went into the Disney store in Greenwood, south of Indy, there was just nothing to buy for adults. It has been that way for the last couple of years now. I am surprised it has not been closed...smjj

Thanks for the good news Terry - I always try to swing by with the chance of finding something to my liking.

There was a reason that I titled the thread "Good News for DVCers that WANT to shop at TDS". I do realize that many of you don't feel that there is anything for you there and don't choose to shop there and that is fine, I certainly wasn't trying to convince anyone to shop there. I was asked by a few people to post anything I have heard about the discount so I did.

Many CM's that work there realize that the merchandise has changed over the years and that guests are not happy about it, but unfortunatly, they don't ask us what the guests want.

I can tell you and I have seen this in writing that TCP has said they will carry a full line of merchandise from infant to adult. TDS will not carry any of TCP merchandise and vice versa. They will be run as two seperate stores. I guess those that choose to shop there in the future will see if this happens or not.

Thanks for the info, Terry. Glad you posted. While DW and I may not buy as much as we used to for ourselves, it's rare that we come out of a DS without something for one of our kiddies.

Thanks for posting this, Terry! I am an ex-CM and the decision to leave my store was made a little easier with the knowledge that I would still get my DVC 10%. Glad to know I still will after TCP takes over.

TCP certainly does not "owe" us anything, as our purchase of DVC did nothing for their parent company's bottom line. (Not that that's why TDS offered the discount in the first place, but it kinda felt like that.) I think it's a great sign that TCP realizes we DVCers are a group of people loyal to the Disney brand, and they appreciate the fact that the 10% will get us in the door. Now it's up to them to change the merchandise mix to meet our needs and earn the other 90% from us. I am taking this wise business decision to continue our discount as a good sign of things to come from TCP and am hopeful that other wise decisions will be made as well.

Wishing you and all the other CMs who are hanging in there for the transition lots of love, luck, and pixie dust!
