We are hoping to go in early December and HOJO right now is not offering the great Entertainment rate. So, my question is what other hotels on Harbor Blvd are nice, close to park and good price?

Desert Inn is cheap, and BWPPI isn't bad either price wise. And they are closer to the park than the HoJo - right across the street from the main gate...but I have heard that the HoJo is the best on Harbor.

If you phone In House Reservations and talk to Lorelle she will be able to give you a 10-15% discount on your room if you tell her you are a member of the DIS boards. HTH!:thumbsup2

Or if you or anyone in your party is planning on uprading to AP's, you can get a 20% discount.

With the HoJo ent. rate, you can't hesitate, you gotta book early and book often. ;)

You'll probably pay a fairly similar price for most of the hotels on Harbor for those dates. Desert Inn sometimes has great rates if you book far ahead. Fairfield can be quite reasonable. I'm thinking that mostly, it's going to be right around $100-120.

If you have the Entertainment book for 2009, you might want to call the hotels, ask for in-house reservations, and ask if they do Entertainment book discounts. I think Desert Inn is on the Ent list, as well as Ramada Maingate-- might want to look at the Ent website. But, you'll almost always get better deals by calling the hotel directly.

You can go to this map of nearby hotels and click on the links, put in your dates, and just see what you come up with. http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html

Also keep in mind that even if HoJo doesn't have the Ent rate, you can still get 15% off there for being a DISboard member. It's not the Hilton, but it's a 3 star hotel, nicer than most of the others except maybe Candy Cane Inn. You could also call and book your dates just in case, (along with whatever other hotel reservations you make) and if the Ent rate shows up beforehand, you can switch to the lower rate. If it doesn't, you can cancel your reservation.

If I can't get the Ent Rate my next choice is the Candy Cane Inn. Nice rooms, free shuttle, free breakfast but also walking distance if you want to walk.

We like the Anaheim Plaza. It's close to the park entrance. It's an older hotel but our room has always been clean. the pool is nice too.

I have to second the Anaheim Plaza ... close to the park .. good sized rooms ... and usually have good rates (around $60 - $80 a night) ... just remember it is an older motel, and your expectations will be exceeded! :)

Plaza Questions.....With it being older doesnt it smell that way?? How long of a walk is it to DL? Which room did you have standard room or the more upgraded one with granite? If we have a rental car we have to pay $4 per day for that or just if we leave it parked throughout the day? What else can you tell me about this hotel.

I didn't notice it smelling old....but that kind of thing doesn't bother me so I wouldn't notice if it did.

The walk from our door to the turnstiles took about 10 minutes or so.

We had a standard room. Nothing fancy, of course. We didn't care because we were only there to sleep.

You have to pay $4 a day, no matter what, I think. Which really isn't too bad because I know a lot of hotels nearby that charge as much as $15 a day.

I liked this hotel because I couldn't hear the people in the rooms next to me. I can't stand being able to hear people talking. I like that they had a mini-fridge and microwave. We bought a case of bottled water and kept it cold to take to the parks with us. We also had cereal/milk in the morning. The pool is big and was clean. We used it last summer in the afternoon when the temps reached 108 degrees.

If you want a nice, fancy hotel...don't stay there. If you want a budget hotel...it's perfect.

We arent looking for something fancy I just noticed that for $15 more or so they have more upgraded rooms and was just curious on the difference. Does the room have coffee makers? It is nice that they have Fridge and Micro makes it nice for leftovers and breakfast.

I didn't know they had upgraded rooms actually. We always just stay in the cheapest rooms...haha.

I can't remember if there was a coffee maker (we never use them in hotels because they kind of gross me out.) But their website says they have them.

Their website also just says "refridgerator available"...but we had one in our room both times we went. Maybe all rooms don't have them though...I'm not sure.

The last few times I stay at AP there were coffee makers in the rooms.

All the rooms as far as I know do have refrigerators, but not all rooms have microwaves. If you get one of the double room set ups .. one of the rooms will have a microwave, and the other will not.

I also like to get a room with a balcony/patio ... it's nice to sit outside sometimes and just chill ...

As to the question of how does the place smell? Well to me it smelt like any other older motel room ... kind of like lysol ... :) But I usually bring one of those plug in air fresheners with me no matter where I stay ... I'm just weird like that I guess ... :confused3

fyi, parking at the HoJo and CCI are free and you can leave your car in the lot on your check out day. :)

How about the Anaheim Fairfield Inn? Anyone have any reviews on that?

I've stayed there twice. I love it. Clean, nice staff and a quick walk to the front gate. I thought the price was reasonable, too.

My DS and I have stayed at the Fairfield also and really liked it. It also had a little bit of that disney touch in some of the decor which we liked.

Unless things have drastically changed, years ago we spent a few nights at the Ramada Maingate and it was really nasty. You couldn't beat the location but the rooms were disgusting. Hopefully they have improved that situation.

We are have been at the Fairfield for almost a week now (leaving tomorrow) and have had a great stay. The rooms are plenty big for 4 or 5 guests. The bath room is average with the vanity and sink outside of the tub and toilet area. The linens are good quality (even the towels are thicker than normal). The beds have a pillow top of memory foam and there are 5 pillows on each queen sized bed. The beds are quite comfy. The room temp is easily adjusted and has a "FAN" mode for those who cannot live without that white noise while sleeping.

Overall, our stay has been great.

The location cannot be beat and is very close to Mimi's, McDonalds, and Millies. We have eaten at Mimi's twice and it is excellent.

I got a really great rate on the Marriott site for only $82.00 per night. Hojo's ent rate was sold out and we have been very happy at the Fairfield. I would stay here again in a heart beat.:goodvibes

I didn't notice any musty/moldy/"old" smell during my stays, but then again, I always bring incense with me whilst traveling, to avoid such unpleasantness :hippie:

I timed my walk from my hotel room to the Park entrance; it was 14 minutes, strolling at a leisurely pace.

I got a "standard" room, it was BIG (for a motel room), and I LOVED the balcony/lanai!

Don't know about the parking, as it was an impromptu trip via bus. I did observe that there was *plenty* of parking, which is good *** sometimes (MOST of the time!) motel parking lots in the area are super-crowded.

It *is* an older motel, but the grounds are kept up nicely, with lots of rose bushes and palm trees. And the hot tub is a welcome relief after a long day in the Park!
