People who have stayed at Good Neighbor hotels lately, have you checked for or noticed or had troubles with bedbugs?

We have a stay booked at the Anaheim Quality Inn and Suites for next month (wasn't my first choice but we are on a budget and all the other lower-priced hotels were booked up) and I was reading some reviews on Trip-Advisor (I know, always going to read the really bad stuff on there, people with good experiences don't usually leave reviews). Anyway, several of the reviews mentioned bedbugs. So I got totally freaked out and started looking at the other Good Neighbor hotels, and so many of them have bedbug reports!!

Next I found a website where you can look up a geographical location and it will list out all the hotels in that area with bedbug reports. :scared1: ACK!! If it is to be believed, Southern California is LOUSY with bedbugs!! :scared1: Not just budget hotels either, but more expensive ones too!

I am completely freaked out now :faint: - can someone reassure me?? Tell me that my family and I won't come home infested and eaten alive? YIKES! :scared1:

I have never worried about bedbugs and have never had a problem.

I just don't worry about such things. We always stay at HoJo. I am sure that if there was a problem, they would go out of their way to make it right, as would any reputable hotel.

I think most people who report bedbugs have no idea what they actually are. There was an ant in the room, oops, bedbugs. I got a rash from the shampoo, must be bedbugs, etc.

My advice is go into your room, without luggage, and check your beds. You can google to find out what to look for. We've traveled extensively, never encountered bed bugs anywhere. But I check every time.

I agree with Dahlia. Also, bedbugs are not the fault of the hotel, but the guest. Bedbugs travel. Guests bring them. Every hotel will eventually have a bedbug case. The true issue comes with how the management handles the complaint. I have seen people report bedbugs, when it was really a spider bite or a mesquito. Or people coming from the beach and they bring sand fleas. I don't worry at most hotels, because if they do get a bedbug infestation, they will handle it. It is the cheap places, where they are too cheap to do a proper heat kill and instead try just vaccumming the heck out of the room involved.

We check the mattresses and dresser drawers, and we've never gotten them. Working in a clinic, we had many people come in claiming they caught bed bugs. Most often, it was a run of the mill rash (or, just as often, scabies). Not the fault of the motel at all....

And if you really want to freak yourself out, Disneyland Hotel, and Grand Californian are in the BedBug Registry as well, and it doesn't stop people from staying there!

When is your trip? Having done the Quality Inn, I can say bed bugs might be the least of your worries. If you can travel or take a bus try price line. I did and got the Marriott Suites for 77, no issues at all. Quality Inn I stayed in for less then 5 hours and that was too long.

I wouldn't discount Bed Bugs because I actually got a room with Bed Bugs when I was in Florida. Yes, I even remember seeing black specks on the bed. It cost me a $1000 to take care of this issue. It's why you should always check your hotel rooms before you move in.

I always check my hotel for bed bugs. I make everyone wait in the car while I go to the room with a flashlight and check everywhere. You can google "how to check for bed bugs" to find exactly what to look for and where to look. I have yet to find any bed bugs, but if I did I'd be going right back to the desk and asking for another room.

Our trip is only 3 weeks away, and we have a package from Disney, so I'd rather not try to tease out the hotel portion of the package from everything else that's all rolled up together in the reservation.

We are really only looking for a place to sleep (and maybe a bagel and some coffee and OJ in the mornings) as we will be spending 12-16 hours a day in the parks. We'll only be there for 3 days then we move on to the San Diego portion of our trip. As long as the rooms are cleaned daily, un-infested by scary bugs, and have decent beds, I can deal with just about anything for 3 days. ;) You can bet though, if ANYTHING so much as looks like it is crawling around that room, the front desk manager and I will be having a serious talk regarding a new room thankyouverymuch.

DH gives me a hard time because I insist on doing a room inspection before any of our belongings enter the room. The night before our Disney Cruise, I actually found a bedbug! I really never expected to find any, but there he was, on the wall underneath the air conditioning unit. We reported it and as the hotel was sold out (didn't want to stay there anyway after that) we stayed elsewhere in a 'clean' room.

Bedbugs are no joke...I would absolutely freak out if I brought those little buggers home. Talk about not sleeping :crazy2:

I am truly the least picky person about rooms, and it was the worst I have stayed in. Worse then any Motel 6 I have been too. Yes the room is in walking distance…so your good if your staying all day in the parks. and they did have a small breakfast included. :)
