I have a buddy who wants to open up a small store that ONLY serves pie and coffee ( well maybe milk, too, I would guess )... He wants it to be only the best quality pies, and he will rotate them on a daily basis, with a core group of always available pies.

He thinks he has a cool name for the store. I am not so sure.

He wants to call it "Pi"..... but using the symbol for pi, if that makes sense... or call it 3.1416.

Think either of those are a good  ?

Creative? Yes.
However, people who aren't fluent in "math" will have no idea what the name means.

Honestly? No.. Sorry..

That was my thinking as well. His response was "People will smell the pies baking and come in, and then it will soon be obvious what I mean"... or something like that.

I can only guess that the name would be "pi", but something underneath ot the store name would identify is as a place that sells pies.

Pi(e)

Kay thats even worse. :lmao:

I think thats an awesome name, not sure everyone else will know what it is though.

love the name. everyone knows the symbol for pi.

No....I don't care for the name at all.

Here in SoCal there is a brand new bakery that opened and it is called 85 Degrees Celsius Bakery Café. It is literally PACKED all day long. Lines go out the door. The baked goods are outstanding and I believe it is the only one in the USA. :goodvibes

Now that to me is an interesting name.

BTW, while discussing this here, an idea came to me to help it become clear... place the pi symbol on a pie as a logo.

Since he'll probably be selling more coffe than pie, (just guessing based on gross coffee vs. pie sales) I think he should incorporate that in the name some how.
How about, Just Baked & Brewed! :goodvibes

I like it! He can have special events on Pie Day (March 14). We were just talking about irrational numbers at school today.

Could be done already and maybe trademarked?

I am not crazy about it. I know what pi is. I know what pie is. If I saw it, I'd just wonder why the place wasn't called "Pie". They're just homophones. I would think it was a technical bookstore or something if I just saw "Pi". It's not clever; it's a lame attempt at clever.

Now having a pie there called "Pi", and making it somehow mean something (e.g. it weighs about 3.14 kilograms?) would be clever.

I can't think of a great alternative, though, that isn't "The Pie Hole" some other already-used name.

But now that I think about it, I do now want some pie :lmao:.

I want that pi pie plate! Did you just Google it or do you have one. This is going on my Christmas list!

We have a pizza place in town called Pi.

It's very popular and people "get" the double entendre.

I like it. It makes me happy. I would buy a t-shirt. : )

I would definitely put "Pi" on a piece of pie and use that as the store logo, to clear things up.

No. I don't like it.

I do like "The Pie Hole" idea though. :thumbsup2

I would use the word "pi" as the official name, not the symbol. Then you could have the symbol posted around. I'd also put other scientific references like charts with the moleculer structure of caffeine, etc. around the place.
