Hi all

There was some doubt on a recent thread whether this was still available.

Has anybody done it recently? We've never done it but would like to take advantage of it at least once during our May trip during EMH.

If it is still available can you give me the low down on it?

When do I have to book it, is it upon checkin at the hotel? What is the breakfast like? Which restaurant does it take place in? What times are available?

Is it a better idea to have an early breakfast then head straight to the park at 8am instead?

I think you have to just ask when you check in to your hotel if its available at all throughout your stay. :thumbsup2

Its still available, but can't be booked in advance of arriving at your hotel. You book it when you check in.

It takes place in one restaurant each morning, usually the Bella Notte or Pinocchio one, but I've also had this at the Plaza Gardens.

You will be given a time slot, which you really should adhere to, as the restaurant providing GMF will be busy, and they do several timeslots to try and alleviate unnecessary crowding.

If you can, its best to get as late a timeslot as you can. Do as much of EMH as you can, from 8am, then go for your GMF breakfast.

If you are a morning person, you might prefer to just have an early breakfast at your hotel instead, and head to the parks and use all of your EMH time on rides.

I've done both, and as I'm not a morning person, prefer GMF myself. But everyone is different, and if forced to, I'll get up in time for early hotel breakfast to make the most of my EMH time :goodvibes .

GMF and the timeslots each morning are subject to availability, so you may not get the day and/or timeslot you'd prefer, when you ask at check in. It just depends what availability there is.

Thank you Elaine, very useful information.
Knowing me I'd book it and the girls wouldn't get up in time that day:lmao: I might stick to an early morning hotel slot and go straight in after, only thing is younest DD gets a bit of morning car sickness, wonder if she'll get it on rides:sick: ;)

Sorry if I misunderstood what you are asking about as I am not an expert on DLP (yet) but I just returned from my first trip there... when we checked in there they had tickets for the in park breakfast for the next morning... it was pretty late (9:45) but we thought it would be kewl to eat in the park... it was at pizza planet.

If the rest of them are anything like this expierance... I would say skip it and just have the hotel breakfast... when we got there there was almost no food available except cereal and cheese... and there were long lines for things like apple/orange juice since there weren't many despensers. While I was waiting in line to get juice since nothing else was really available they brought out a basket of rolls... a massive hoard of people descended with some taking 10+ rolls and about 30 seconds later they were all gone... so when I finally got my juice (after waiting several minutes because of people filling up 5-10 cups of juice at once at the one despenser available) all the food that was left were about 3 pieces of fruit in the bottom of the fruit cocktail bowl and some cheese (plus cereal at another table).... they eventuall brought out more rolls... but that was it bread wise... just rolls (no creasants nor pane aux chocolate) and some yogurt... it was also crazy busy without enough seating.

The next morning we had an early resort breakfast... there was plenty of everything... no lines as there were multiple places to get each thing... overall a very pleasent expierance... especially compared to the horrid pizza planet expierance... maybe the other places are better though when they use them.

We weren't impressed with our GMF b'fast at Bella Notte either. Like Peter Pan, we opted for a later b'fast after EMH and it was way too busy for my liking.

We had a GMFB last week (8.45am slot at Chalet au Marionette) and found there was still plenty of food-it was very busy but there was ample seating too. The food was good, similar to the hotel with a couple of small extras. We enjoyed the experience-I definitely found it more civilised than getting up for a hotel breakfast at 7am :scared1:

As said by one of the others, you have to book it on arrival, and they would only let us book it one day ahead.

Re the travel sickness thing-my DD2 sometimes gets carsick, but she is absolutely fine on all the rides, including the spinning teacups ;)

Thanks for the information, everybody.
Doesn't sound like my "cup of tea", pardon the pun:lmao: it's already taken serious pursuading to get DH back to DLRP after what we experienced with queue jumping back in 2005. If the GMF breakfast is a real mad scrum I think we'd rather do an early morning hotel breakfast prior to EMH.

Id really hoped to do this on our second morning end of march, now im a bit put off! :confused3

Anyone good reviews of this lately?

After reading this I'm also reconsidering, I'd been hoping to do a GMFB on 3 out of our 4 mornings, maybe not.
I actually like getting an early breakfast and being at the park gates ready for EMH. :)

We had a GMF breakfast on the 16th Feb at Au Chalet de la Marionnette at 8:15. There was plenty of food and was initially very quiet when we arrived but became very busy by the time we had left. While it was ok I felt that the restaurant was very dark and by the time we had eaten we felt that the quews at the rides had built up and we had missed out on the EMH. Hope that helps. :goodvibes

In November we had GMF breakfast at Plaza Gardens at 9.15.
It was really unorganized-the queue for orange juice and milk was huge and it took a long time for them to be refilled. It took DH and BIL 15 minutes to queue for a cup of coffee! There didn't seem as much choice of food. Not that there is a particularly great selection in the hotels-but it was really poor at that restaurant.
Was hoping to be able to get in really early but I think the earliest slot at the hotel may be a better option.

I had a GMF breakfast in October at the Plaza Gardens, 8.45am slot. It was great - you are seated there by your waiter/waitress, so you know you have a table, unlike the Bella Notte and Chalet de Marionette. Plenty of food out, lots of choice, the only slight niggle was that there appeared to be only 2 coffee machines in use, and one of them was running very slow.

In my opinion, GMF breakfast won't compare with your early slots at onsite hotel breakfasts. By their very nature, GMF breakfast venues will be busy, as they are only held at one restaurant per day.

For us, it really does boil down to whether we'll set the alarm for early enough to go for breakfast at 7.30 at the hotel, or have another half hour in bed and sacrifice 20 minutes or so EMH time while we have GMF breakfast in the park.

I agree with DLPdaft. GMF breakfast in Plaza gardens is the best out of all them. We always try and get a GMF breakfast every day every time we go. We're always up early and try and get an 8am slot.

GMF was in Plaza Gardens when we last went in November and it was half empty all 3 mornings. The 4th morning we had breakfast in the hotel (NPBC) at it was the usual mad croissant flight!

I love GMF brekkies!

I just want to enquire what exactly are you paying for when you "upgrade" from your breakfast included in your disney hotel to go to a GMF breakfast?

Am i right in saying its not a charactor thing?

Is there extra food laid on?

Im just not sure what I would be paying an extra £30's or so for?

Sorry if the questions r silly but im just trying to get my head around this.

Thanks

Not silly questions Elliee.

It's not a character breakfast.

There's no extra food, it's exactly (almost) what you'd get in the hotel, cereals, breads and pastries, meats, yougarts, fruit etc.

The location varies Plaza Gardens, Chalet Marionette (Pinnochio) and Belle Notte. You dont choose the location it's different places different times of the year.

When you check in to your hotel they always ask you your preferred breakfast times to give you time slots (they stagger guests breakfast to try and make it less busy at any one point). They will not offer you the GMF option you must ask for it.

You don't pay anything extra.

Staying in a Disney hotel you get EMH extra magic hours, meaning you can use certain rides in the parks 8-10am. I like the GMF breakfast as Im there at 8 and then fed and ready to get as many rides as possible done before 10 am!!

Hope this helps clear it up a little.

Thanks so much! That clears alot up for me!

I was getting upgrading to a charactor breakfast mixed up with the GMF breakfast! :rotfl:

Ive got it all clear in my head now!

Thanks so much!

We've had these at the 3 different restaurants on our recent trips and if you get there early they are great and are a bit more special than the hotel breakfast, even though the food is the same!
