Good last-minute solo hotel options during March Break?

I've extended my trip for a 2 nights after DH has to fly home, and I'd love any tips anyone has on what hotels to look for and where to find them last-minute. It’s peak season so availability on-site is slim-to-none, but I was able to secure ASM for just under $150/night.

That’s still pretty costy and I can cancel up to 5 days prior, so I was wondering if anyone can share tips or past experiences on how to get a good off-site deal last-minute. I don’t need a lot of amenities, but I’d like a room that is clean, comfortable and safe for a solo woman. Ideally, I’d like to find a place for under $100/night, including taxes, parking and fees. (I’ll have a rental car and my AP for free parking at the parks.)

Any suggestions on where to look for a Monday-Wednesday stay?

Look at Champion World Resort. We stayed there for a cheer competition. It was very basic, tile floor, but not bad. Very inexpensive. We also got a military rate. Their rack rate is usually under $70 a night. Our room was near the walkway to the parking lot and some rooms face the parking lot. I would specify to be facing interior and close to the lobby for added security.

Yup, high rate dates. Not a lot of options for your price range.

Go to Mousesavers page for preferred hotels, Buena Vista Suites is in line at right around $100. Nice suites, close to Disney Springs so not a far drive, breakfast included.

There are a few non-Disney hotels popping up in the $130-140 range, but at that point you might as well stick to on property.

Buena Vista Suites looks pretty nice! But for my dates it's $119 plus taxes and fees, so only a savings of about $40 overall for the two nights. I'll have to think about that one. I think $20/night extra might be worth staying solo in the Disney bubble... at least for this short number of days.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I agree with Disney, but at least you know the options offsite are not much better.

I put in dates check in March 14, check out March 16 and rack rate is $69.00 a night for the hotel I mentioned. There are some lower rates for AAA, military, etc.

That’s weird.. when I checked it last time it showed no availability for my dates. Maybe it was a system glitch? Thanks for the mention... now it looks like it may be open for my dates!

We frequently use HOTWIRE to find great deals! As long as you are willing to pre-pay, you can get plenty of safe, decent hotels--including some with free breakfast for less--sometimes much less--than $100 a night. It's not really a blind search, either. You know the star-rating and often get an idea of what just booked at that rate.

I agree - I looked at the Values and we decided not a good value
Even though you are in WDW - the buses can get crowded, the beds are not comfortable, the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors and groups stay at the values & some moderates, such as cheerleaders, pop football, yah yah groups.

So if DS hotels are less than moderates - we are looking into DS hotels.
DS hotels have a good rating for their buses - just know the 30 minute pick up times (ask the bus driver)
DS hotels, for the most part have great beds to sleep in and quiet rooms (best for a day in WDW)
And you can do lots of activities in DS if you do EMH AM in a park and back to DS by 3 PM.
Take a bus from a WDW resort to DS (CR for MK, YC/BC for EPCOT or HS, and from AK - either AKL or from AK it's self ? unsure best way)

Good luck on your choice
