Greetings!

I recently discovered this site and the love all the great info !!

Does anyone have a hotel recommendation for the 'half-way' point between Cleveland, OH and WDW? I'm guessing this would be in the Chattanooga - Atlanta range?

Many Thanks,

I would stay a little more than halfway...that second day seems soooo much longer than the first!

I went to the web sites of several chains and found some great rates. Just shop around a bit.

If you stop in Atlanta, try to stay in the Buckhead area. I have stayed at the Swissotel, Grand Hyatt, and the JW Marriott (all in Buckhead) and had a blast. All three hotels are great and the area is LOADED with upscale shopping, restaraunts, and entertainment. I know you'd just be there overnight, but the restaraunt choices are worth stopping for. In Downtown, there is the Westin Peachtree Plaza that comes up on Priceline a lot for only $45 (and it seems to be the only 4* in that zone, so you're almost gauranteed to get it) and it's incredibly nice.

When we drive we never make a reservation for the first night. We like to try and get as far as we can. So, I usually print coupond from www.roomsaver.com and bring them with me.

See if you can get hold of Dave Hunter's Along I 75. In my opinion, it is invaluable when you do that drive. Check the website: Along I 75 Accomodations Have a great trip! OH...and

Welcome!!!

Hey, we traveled last year to WDW by car from the Toledo area (we are practically neighbors!) and we stopped for our first night about 20 minutes south of Atlanta in McDonough, Georgia. We got a pretty good deal at the Days Inn there... it was a clean place to sleep with breakfast in the morning (along with fresh baked complimentary Odis Spunkmeyer cookies...yumm...). There was also a suite hotel on the OTHER side of the highway in McDounough that was our "backup" hotel.

I would suggest stopping for dinner when you get into GA at a Fast Food place and pick up one of the many hotel/travel guides you'll find for free at restaraunts and fast food chains. You can cut coupons out of there, or just hope to get lucky with a AAA discount.

Another suggestion: Make sure you ask to see the room before you pick the hotel. We were about to stay at a "newly refurbished" Super 8 that was just about the cruddiest place I've seen. Just check things out and be willing to be flexible.

FYI, on the way home, we stayed at a Quality Inn Chalet in Tennessee. We traveled a little farther that we would have liked to on the way home, but we ran into a little league championship series in TN and couldn't find available rooms for MILES! Remember, you just have to be flexible!!

Tootles!

I live just north of Atlanta. It is about a 7 1/2 hour drive from here. Buckhead is a very nice area, I used to work at the JW Marriott and it is an upscale hotel attached to a mall. It has an indoor pool. Probably over $125 a night. If you are looking for something on the other end of the scale, there are several hotels on the Kennesaw exit, north of Atlanta. Pretty much all of the hotels are new and there is a Cracker Barrell on that exit and around the corner from a big mall area. Are you looking for a bed to sleep in or do you want to stay somewhere where there is something to do? That would help narrow down your options.
