Good freezer recipes--do you have/where to find?

On my local Groupon today, they are offering Let's Dish for 4 do-it-yourself meals for "ONLY" $84:scared1: That's over $20 per casserole. :scared1::scared1:

If I'm spending 2 hours and $20, I want more than one casserole in the freezer to show for it. So, I already make-ahead and freeze meatloaf, lasagna, hili mac, chomemade pizza, waffles, pancakes, french toast, etc...

But I do a lot of make-and-takes for my sister (widowed, 4 kids, works and goes to church)... and I thought I'd ask here, anybody got any great recipes that freeze well to add to the repertoire?

I am more of a physical cookbook kind of gal and I LOVE LOVE LOVE "Don't Panic, Dinner's in the Freezer." It's fabulous and you can get it at Amazon for around $8

When I make lasagne, I always make two, with one to freeze. It's not that much more work, and the kitchen's already messed up anyway.

I also do this with a shepherd's pie casserole recipe my mother gave me -- freezes well, and pretty easy to make double.

This website has some good recipes: http://www.dinnersinthefreezer.com/

I try to make recipes in bulk when I can. This is a website that I have gotten many freezer recipes from. Many are not cooked, just adding marinade and freezing which helps me in the long run as well. I'm so happy when I have some of this already available in the freezer, it really makes my life easier when I get in late from work.

Hope that helps.

Great question...great ideas here! Through my work at Focus on the Family, I heard about and use a cookbook called "Once a Month Cooking", by Mary Beth Lagerborg, and Mimi Wilson. Basically you spend one day (LONG DAY) cooking and when you're done, have a month's worth of meals for the freezer. Though it was a very long day, it is awesome to have everything there and ready to go, and took a lot of the guesswork and headache out of figuring out what to have for dinner each night. It was also kind of a fun bonding time for hubby and I (we got a babysitter that day). Right now, through the summer months, I have a hard time doing it because I don't want to cook all day and heat up the house...lol! But, you might want to check it out. Most of the recipes were hits with my whole family....but you can mix it up, too if you find some duds. You might also be able to find it at the library and test drive some of the recipes before you commit :) Worked for us.

Thanks for the question....I'm going to check out some of these other sites mentioned as well!

My favorite is The Big Cook. It is a cookbook published in Canada so it can be hard to find and a bit expensive in the US, but you can order directly off their web site.

For each recipe it lists ingredients for making 1, 4, and 6 or 8 of the same recipes at a time.

I just popped in over here looking for Free Dining info and saw this thread.

Here's my Freezer Cooking category on my blog. I've got lots of freezer friendly recipes. And my friend Tricia at onceamonthmom.com has a site dedicated to cooking once and eating for a month.
