"But a firm date for the dragon’s debut has yet to be released." :confused3

Yeah...still no dragon :flower3:...but the show is playing until the end of the year :woohoo: I changed the title, just so no ones gets their hopes up
about the dragon...Have my fingers crossed that the dragon will show up
in a few days...one can hope :lmao: ...jc

Great news! We are going in December & would love to get to see it. Now I'm just waiting for the schedule, lol.

I had given up hope that we could see it this fall when we went. Now I have to cross my fingers that they will show it on Columbus Day with the park open late! I haven't seen it since (I believe) 1995 and the rest of my family has never seen it!

Thanks for the news ....

Awesome news!

Will be at DL in Oct., and thought I was going to miss it. Despite not being a fan of WDW's version, I've been wanting to see the original.

We were going to go in November, but various things made us change to late April.

So is Fantasmic retiring at the end of the year? We were planning an extra weekend night specifically to see that.

What? This is the LAST year Fantasmic is showing??? Did I read that right? Or just this VERSION of Fantasmic and they are replacing it with another version next year?

Okay I've been looking around and think I have some info.

They're going to work on Rivers of America, it sounds like a major (time consuming) overhaul. So obviously Fantasmic!, Tom Sawyer's Island, Columbia, and Mark Twain will all be closed during that.

I doubt they'd cancel Fantasmic! right after they upgraded it, but then again some of the things they do make me stratch my head.

Any idea when the work is supposed to start?

:sad1: Temporarily closing the Rivers of America!? :sad2: That means I really have to make sure to see the new dragon before it goes away!!!

I really want to see Fantasmic when we are there next month. My son, who just turned 6, is afraid of stuff--doesn't like the dragon in the Disney Princess Ice show, etc. How "scary" is Fantasmic without the dragon. Just trying to see if it would even be worth it to try to stake out a place, etc. if he would not enjoy it.

Thanks!

Woo Hoo! :cool1: I'm so stoked to see this when we go in October. It's been a couple of years since I've seen it and I had resigned myself to not seeing it again for some time. Yay for Disney changing their mind!

My daughter who is now 10 has always been a fearful child. Well, not of everything-she'll pick up a snake but hates fireworks, stuff like that. Anyway, when she was probably 3 or 4 we tried to watch Fantasmic & had to leave as soon as it started because she started screaming. I am soooooo hopeful & pretty sure that now that she is older she'll just plug her ears & cover her eyes if needed. It's been years since I have seen the show but I don't remember it being too scary but I do remember lots of explosions & things like that. I vaguely recall Malificent appearing too????

I wonder if you might be able to find a video some place on You Tube? Perhaps you can preview it?

That's Fantasmic news. I'm so happy. We'll be there in November and didn't know if it would be on or not and my little girl LOVES watching it on youtube.

I hope Fantasmic is showing next July. We've never been to DL & probably won't return for a long time, if at all. I was hoping to do the F! dessert party. We've seen F! at Disney's Hollywood Studios several times, but I've heard DL's is better. I'll spread a little pixiedust: in hopes it isn't dark for long.

I'm with you! We're going to DLR in May and will be absolutely heartborken if we can't see Fantasmic! :sad2: We've seen the WDW version several times but I saw the DLR version 15 years ago and DH has never seen it. We also will probably not be back to DLR for many years. Pixie dust and happy thoughts about Fantasmic in 2010! pixiedust:
