We are staying at the Marriott-World Center and I would love some suggestions for a family fun restaurant in the area. I'm so used to eating on property that we haven't ventured out into Orlando much. Thanks for the help!

I guess family fun means something different to everyone. What type of expereince are you looking for? Children's ages?

We enjoyed Joe's Crab Shack which is just outside Disney Village. Very good sea food, and fun atmosphere. The NASCAR Cafe at Universal Boardwalk is a unique experience, even if you're not a NASCAR fan. Then there's the old stand bys, if you've never been to one: Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, Margaritaville, and the best and most fun of this group...Rainforest Cafe.

I would also suggest asking your concierge for their recs.

There's not a lot really close to the Marriott, but, if you drive to Crossroads, Jungle Jim's is a popular place, while at Downtown Disney you have the Rainforest Cafe. Head up to International Drive and there is plenty of choice at The Pointe (including X/S Orlando, which has a diner downstairs and a huge video arcade upstairs!), while Cafe Tu Tu Tango is another very good option. I would also recommend Wild Jack's (Western-style) Steakhouse, the B-Line Diner inside The Peabody Hotel (especially if you can time it to see the twice-daily Duck March!) and Don Pablo's Mexican Kitchen if your children are a bit older (say, over 10).

For family fun I'd suggest Kobe. There's one near Crossroads junction and also one on US 192. Excellent Japanese steakhouse but with a menu that will suit everyone....go for the filet steak upgrade if you are going there...wonderful. :)

Otherwise you're looking at Dinner shows and the best one at the moment is Tony 'n' Tinas Wedding at Soulfire - LBV Factory Stores , SR 535.

lFor CHEAP food,

go to SteaknShake for burgers and milkshakes.

A couple stop lights north of dt disney entrance.

Another vote for Jungle Jims, much better than Rainforest Cafe IMO Kids loved it, dh and I were glad to get out of there with our wallets intact - RFC can get pricey quickly.

Try this website for info: www.jungle-jims.com

You can check out the menu in advance. I tried to pull up the map on the site as well, but couldn't. I understand it's in the Crossroads Shopping area, near Downtown Disney. We haven't been there yet, but plan to try it on our upcoming trip!

Have fun!

It is in the Crossroads Plaza, near Downtown Disney, and I've heard of people walking to it. A bit far for small children.
