Looking for a good place to have lunch at the San Diego Zoo, any recommendations? Thanks.

If you're looking for counter service rather than a $$$ sit-down place like Alberts, then "good eats" and "San Diego Zoo" do NOT go together, in my opinion. I've had some of the most tasteless, rubbery, cardboard food there than any other park I can think of. Though their soft serve ice cream is good, as are the chocolate chip cookies at Sydney's Grill. If I HAVE to eat there I usually go to Sydney's Grill - their stuff seems better than most of the rest. It's all pretty expensive for what you get, though.

:thumbsup2 Hi we just got home last night from 9 nights in Cali. we went to the zoo, and was shocked at the prices!:scared1: we ate at the tree top counter service place, my dd13 and I split a turkey wrap and my mom had a salad, it was 4.00 for a coke !! if you get the lg. you can get a refill anywhere in the zoo for 1.28. --but you don't get a lid or straw !! we enjoyed the plants at the zoo but over all enjoy Brookfield Zoo more. have fun and don't forget the sunscreen!!

I can't really rec. a good place to eat at SD Zoo. :confused3 We usually bring in our own lunch. If we're coming from home, we pack some sandwiches, etc. If we're staying in SD area, we pick up some sandwiches at a local Togos or Subway. Hope this helps.
