Good, detailed explanation of new WDW Extra Magic Hour tests...

3. Who can attend Extra Magic Hours in the evening?

Both the morning and evening Extra Magic Hours will be available from May 9 through May 22 to Guests staying at Disney owned and operated resorts, as well as Guests staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and the Lake Buena Vista Hilton. Guests staying at Shades of Green may participate in the morning offering only.

Bummer - SoG people cannot take advantage of the evening hours. I wonder why they are offering it for S/D and LBV Hilton but not SoG.

I hope this works out! I love the parks after dark!! I have never been there when an E-night was offered so the only time I have been there til midnight was the Christmas party. :bounce: As the kids are getting older, it is easier to have them stay up late than it is to get their fannies out of bed early in the morning!

it said that the extra evening hours are at no charge to resort guests! And I will be one of them.......

Thank you so much Dan!!!! I am thrilled to be able to check this out when I am there next month :teeth:

My BIL, fresh from Iraq, is taking his family April 30-May 5. I hope he doesn't hear that he is not able to do the evening hours since he is staying at SoG, because he is angry enough that Disney ended most of their special Military deals before he came home.

According to the article, they don't start the test until May 9. I agree that it stinks that Disney is not extending the offer for military personnel deployed during the offer. At the very least, they should extend the offer to those people with orders stating that they were in the combat zone during that time.

I am glad to hear that your BIL is home safe and sound.

Hope they have it in June, as that is a busier Month.:o

I also think it is a shame that guests at SOG are not being included in the night hours but guests at the Hilton are. I would like to think that Disney would show a little more support to those who are serving or have served their country.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to write to voice displeasure with this decision?

I called Disney today regarding this matter. I was told it was up to the resort to participate or not, so I should call SOG, which I did. Guest Services at SOG could not tell me why they are not participating in the trial run, but suggested that I write to SOG management to voice my displeasure and concerns, which I will be doing this week! Firstno, a former SOG employee who posts on these boards frequently, said that outside resorts (non-Disney which SOG is) usually have to pay to participate in these Dinsey on-site perks, and that if SOG is not participating, it may be that they didn't want to pay for the privilege. Tacky, IMHO, and I'll be letting them know that within the week!

If you want to write, too (PLEASE DO!!), address your concerns to
Shades of Green
Attn. General Manager
PO Box 22789
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-2789
and you can use a "Dear Sir" in the salutation.

Totally OT, but SOG isn't really a great deal for some of us anymore, and if we aren't able to take advantage of this GREAT perk (should it become a regular feature) there are fewer and fewer reasons to stay. That's good for Disney, as they'll get more of my business, but a poor business decision by SOG. In December we only paid $14 more for AKL than we would have for SOG due to my FL discount, which many military have. Granted, you pay tax on the Disney room, but when you lose perks, it stops being worth the savings.....This December, if Disney uses the same FL resident rates, the difference will only be $5 for us at AKL ....you see what I mean?

Thanks Dan! My Mom and I had planned to be at Epcot for Mother's Day-this will make it even better. ::yes::
