I started looking for rental car for spring break in Phoenix for April 2-11th. It will be 8 day total rental. I went to the Costco sight and found a Ford Fusion (or similar) thru Avis using the code plus a $35 off weekly rental coupon for $281 (less coupon would be $246). I was happy---booked but should not this is picking up offsite and returning to airport (same pickup at airport/return to airport is well over $500). Last night I looked at Budget through Costco...same Fusion with a $30 off coupon is a little less (same offsite with airport return) is $235 so I booked that and kept the Avis. Today I saw a different coupon (all of this is on Costco website and coupons expire 6/11) with $25 off weekly AND a free one class upgrade. Book same Fusion but with upgrade for $239---so $3 more than just plain Fusion so I cancel last nights Budget reservation.
I have been asked for the Costco card when renting ---this was at Sky Harbor and through Alamo about 4 years ago. I am happy with rates but will keep checking hoping they go down. I know to book/cancel/rebook as often as I can.
Posted because I know people are looking for coupons for 2011. The rates include all taxes also and are totals based after coupon deducted.
