Hi again - we're going to have a car on this trip. We'll be staying at POFQ but we're wondering where we can eat for fairly inexpensive with 2 kids under 5 and four adults. We have done the drive through thing many times - but I don't know if my stomach can handle that for 5 days ;) Any suggestions where to go (near or around WDW) that we can eat for less $ ? Thanks! :earsboy:

I'm thinking non-drive through places for you, and there's not a ton of selection if you want to avoid "drive through" and sit down.

On SR 535 (close to DTD exit) there are several places like Pizza Hut, Miami Subs, ... I'm trying to think of more. I guess it depends on how far you want to drive. There are many sit down restaurants (think TGI Fridays, LoneStar, etc.)

On SR 535 and US 192, there are certainly plenty of choices - many are fast food. Have you tried Chic-Fil-A? There is one near I-4 on SR 535 that is pretty popular.

Also, if you go to the Premium Outlets off of SR 535, there is a decent food court with Subway, "mall chinese," pizza, A&W, etc. That's always a good choice where each person can get what they want.

HTH!

Have you thought of splitting entrees to save $$$?

there are several Denny's close by - just about any chain brand you could name is along US 192 in Kissimmee.

The Crossroads Shopping Plaza (across the street from the DTD etrance to WDW) has quite a few choices - Pizzaria Uno, Red Lobster, Chevy's Fresh Mex, Quiznos, McDs, Jungle Jims etc. Basically drive up or down that road and you will find any chain restaurant you want. What kind of food are you looking for?

Wonderful place.

Salads, soups, breads including pizza, pastas, different kinds of sauces, and an ice cream sundae bar.

You can even check out what the menu will be when you visit. Go for lunch, it's cheaper. When we went is was $6.99 adult, age 6-12 was $4.49, age 3-5 was $1.49 and 2 and under free. This did not include drinks or tax. We just got water and for our family of 5 we paid $26.16. That is incredible for anywhere, but especially Orlando. And it's all FRESHLY MADE! The cream of mushroom soup was out of this world.

This is our new "must do". And we are major meat eaters, but didn't mind this for lunch since there is so much variety.

Ci-Ci's pizza isn't far and away and always good and cheap. We always go there one meal while in town to save some money and the kids are happy to sample the pizzas and deserts. The buffet is something like $3.99 pp and under 3 is free I think. Search for it on these boards.

There is a Sonny's Barbecue on 192 also. It's a little further down the road than the other places, but IMO it's worth the trip. For $29.99 you can get the family feast which includes an entire smoked chicken, a slab of ribs, sliced smoked roast beef and pork, french fries, cole slaw, baked beans and four drinks. There is absolutely a ton of food and it's very good. Not fancy at all, but good and cheap. You can also get it to take out or order individual meals, but they're not quite as good of a deal.

IMHO best value for a nice sit down meal in the area is the Olive Garden, there is one in the Crossroads area. If you drive from DTD to the interstection where crossroads is directly ahead of you , you need to take a left and Olive Garden is on the corner of the first road on the right ( about 150-200 yards I'd guess from the Crossroads traffic lights). Here's a link to their website, there are plenty of sites inthe Orlando area http://www.olivegarden.com/ . With Kids I always find Jungle Jims is a good option.

I second Sweet Tomatoes, especially if you're planning time at Universal or going to the Belz Outlets. Their salads are so fresh and the soups are just wonderful. I also like Steak and Shake on Apopka-Vineland near the Winn-Dixie (Left turn at Crossroads traffic light).
