I know some people report issues renting with Dollar, but we had a successful rental last May.

I have been watching for either a week or a couple of 1-2 day rentals with Alamo and National but rates have been sky high even with coupons.

Today, I grabbed local reservations with Dollar renting and returning at Regal Sun for only $35 per day Compact, better by far than the $80 with the others.

That's with taxes and fees. You can walk to the Regal Sun in 5 minutes from the Marketplace DTD bus stop.

For our 2 week stay in August, we'll be doing a 1 day rental to get groceries, then a 2 day rental mid stay to go to the beach and touch up on groceries.

I got a good rate there also- 37.00 day for midsize in Ocotber. I usually rent at MCO but it is just so much higher this year. My question is "Does Regal Sun resort have a transport that goes to/from MCO?" I don't want to have to ride DME to resort and then get on bus to DD to rent car if I don't have to.

I would love to know this info too:surfweb:

I have a ressie with Dollar at Regal Sun resort in Sept. and the email confirmation has this info:

Additional Information:
Courtesy Shuttle: Lake Buena Vista shuttle available from 9am-4pm. Please call 407-583-8009 to schedule.

I doubt it would include MCO, but I expect to take ME to our resort and have the Dollar shuttle from Regal Sun pick me up at BCV and take me to Regal Sun. When I return the vehicle to Regal Sun, I expect Dollar's shuttle to take me back to BCV where I will take ME back to MCO.

Went back and looked at my email confirmation and sure enough there is the shuttle information.. I had missed it myself, thanks for posting that!

Should make it a lot quicker to go pick up and get back after drop off! I hope...

(One I rented from a major name but located on US192 nearby because they had a shuttle... they said call an hour before... I did... and waited nearly 3 hours for my pickup  )

Thanks for the info Junebug. Just curious, why didn't you just schedule drop off at MCO?

I love Dollar. Great if you sign up for Dollar Express. But anyway...

The office at Regal Sun is fine, but if you plan to use the shuttle, call them a day in advance to schedule things. You can't just call and say, "come pick me up."

In the past we have returned the car at MCO along with our luggage, we have returned the car to MCO after using the hotel check-in and luggage service, so this time I would like to let ME take care of our luggage and drop us off at MCO. I may change my mind and return to MCO, even though it is about $40 more.

Just an FYI. The luggage return to MCO is not done via DME and is not tied to the bus ride. The folks at BAGS (the luggage guys) could care less if you are getting on the bus.
