Good arrival night restaurant

We are arriving on 11/21 around noon. We're staying at the Yacht Club so I'm thinking we might do a low-key visit to Epcot or HS for the afternoon and I want to do a fun dinner that night.

Right now I have Whispering Canyon at 8:25. Is it going to be a pain to get back to our resort after dinner? What's the best way? I think the late-ish time of dinner will be ok but that everyone might be exhausted by the time we are done.

I could probably get something at the World Showcase or it looks like Hollywood Brown Derby is available. Would those be a safer bet, or is Whispering Canyon worth it?

Getting back from dinner that late will be a pain, esp on arrival/travel day. A taxi is the best bet for resort-to-resort... you can also take a boat or bus from WL to MK and bus back to YC.

Lots of World Showcase restaurants are fun, or something on the Boardwalk. I understand you'd want something easy and fun for that first night. What about Cape May?

I'd prefer to be in bed earlier on arrival night, and have time to get settled before hitting the ground running the next day.

Good luck with your final plans!

OP- If you're going to dinner right from EPCOT or HS, just take the bus directly to WL. If you're going back to YC first, bus to MK then bus or boat over to WL
After dinner at that hour, I would definitely spring for a taxi back to YC.

We are doing Cape May our final morning.

I think food and atmosphere-wise Whispering Canyon will be a big hit. How easy is it to get taxis?

Very easy-- Bell Services/Front Desk at WL can get one for you. They don't line up as with other hotels in the real world but are usually close-by and on call.

You can take a bus to WL from HS or the monorail from Epcot to TTC then monorail to CR then boat to WL which sounds like a bit much but I have to monorail on my first night :cutie:. We enjoy WCC fun way to start a trip

We usually stick to a restaurant in downtown disney our first night. T-rex , paridso 37 or bogos are great first night restaurants.

If you go with Epcot I would pick a restaurant there. Via Napoli, Teppan Edo, as well as other choices. I do not like the choices at HS, so if that is your park for the day, I would eat at one of the area hotels. Cape May is going to be our first night choice, we are staying at the BCV. I think on the first night it would be good to pick a place close to your resort.

Via Napoli is a good arrival night restaurant, but looking back, my favorite arrival night was Garden Grill and Illuminations right after. We had a great time getting reintroduced to our Disney "friends" and good food as well.

I would just go to Lotus Blossom in Epcot. Really though, I can't see there being a best thing.

I like to stay close by the resort on arrival day. Not knowing when I will get access to the room, and coordinating unpacking/settling in with park time and a meal - the closer I am, it feels like I have more flexibility. In your shoes, I would probably make a reservation at Trattoria - haven't eaten there yet, so that would be fun. Then see the entertainers on the Boardwalk. Or walk into Epcot and see IllumiNations from the bridge between UK and France.

Whatever you choose, have fun!

We are usually up to travel early as it's always a 6-7am flight for us, so dinner is also early - no later than 6 and at the resort or a neighboring resort. Early night; organize the room a bit and get to bed early for rope drop the next morning.

We are staying at the Boardwalk Inn and have an 8 pm ADR at Fulton's Crab House on our arrival night.

Like others we like to stay close to our resort and do a relatively early evening before hitting the ground running the next morning. I do not think it is worth the trouble of getting to/from WCC. Travel Day is very tiring.

Boma is our traditional arrival day restaurant because we never do a park on arrival or departure day. Any of the three AKL restaurants would be a good choice. We can check out a few of the savannas and spend some time in a beautiful resort before we grab dinner.

We love to eat at California Grill on our first night. It's exciting to have that wonderful view of the WDW property and know our trip is just starting and we'll be at all the parks we can see!

Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way for WCC.

For a fun dinner, what about Prime Time or Sci Fi? Those would be easy as far as transportation goes. And, as others have said, there are many great options in Epcot.

With so many great options right near your resort, I wouldn't travel elsewhere on your arrival day. My first choice would be Biergarten. It's always a great meal and lots of fun for all ages. We eat there every time we visit.
