Isn't it amazing how you can do poorly on a hole & never want to play the game again yet all it takes is a couple of good drives and a 10-foot putt to make it the greatest game and you can't wait to go golfing again. :teeth:

I always say it only takes one good shot to keep you coming back but if you don't make a good shot in a round you remember the one you made last week and you come back anyway to better that shot. Golf is addicting. I remember growing up I thought golf was the dumbest game on earth. I play every day now (well I did until this year--we are moving so we didn't join our club and it is KILLING me not to be out there every day--I do hit the driving range but that isn't as fun).

Where do you golf?

It only takes one shot to bring you back for more.

Oh I love golf but I don't get to play as much any more. :sad1:

I was never really that good but those few good shots that I did have every now ant then kept bringing me back for more. :teeth:

I look at my club and think, how did I do that! :teeth: I enjoy watching my kids play more than playing myself. When they have a great round, I'm so happy for them.

The other day I tried to go golfing, but I was sneezing and snuffling so much I could barely play. And on the third hole, just to mock me, my ball rebelliously rolled into a hedge of blooming photinia bushes. Useless allergy pills.

I'm sorry!

Isn't that the truth!?!?

Here's my story....

Two years ago we went to Myrtle Beach for vacation. DW's parents went with us, as they are the ones who introduced me to Myrtle Beach. Me and father-in-law play while everyone else shops or plays in the ocean.

Anyway.....we are paired up with a couple other guys. I am playing very poorly......especially with my driver. After just a few holes, I stop hitting my driver at all.

Fast forward to hole 17. It is a 530 yard par five that doglegs around the marsh. I decide to go ahead and hit my driver once again. And lo and behold……I crush it. Just perfect. So, we get up to my ball, and I have 225 yards to the hole. It is a little downhill, so I hit a 6-iron. And I hit it absolutely perfect. Right at the stick. We get up to the hole and I have 5 feet for EAGLE! And, yes, I roll it in.

It was as sweet and fun of a single hole of golf in my life. :woohoo:

Here is my Myrtle Beach golf story:

On our second day in MB, Dh and I got paired up with a couple of cowboys from Texas. I was planning on playing from the men's tee's but DH thought it would be better if I played from the women's tees since we got paired up with these other men, ok, no big deal, the women's tees are about 10 yards in front of the mens, ok, maybe 30 yards. The men tee off, ok drives, nothing outstanding We pull up to the women's tee box and the group in front of us is still in my way so I wait.

One of the Cowboys starts in, "it's ok, little lady, you just take your time, we aren't in a hurry. I know a big course like this is a little intimidating, blah, blah, blah." I could hear DH snickering in our cart, he's golfed with me before. The group in front of us moves so I get ready to tee off, plastered one down the middle about 60 yards in front of the cowboy's drive. He looked at my DH and said "if my wife did that I'd shoot her". I birdied the hole and went on to beat him by about 10 strokes.

We pull back up to the clubhouse to drop off our clubs and the attendant starts in "well how did it go little lady (I don't know what is with all the little lady stuff), I hope our course wasn't too hard for you, blah, blah, blah". The cowboy comes up behind him and said, " I wouldn't talk like that to her, she cleaned my clock". The attendant looked at me and said, "what did you shoot". I told him an 82 and his mouth dropped to the ground. Then he asked to see my handicap card :lmao: . He apologized.

The next day we were paired up with a couple other men and they took one look at me and asked the attendant if they could be paired up with someone else. The attendant asked them what they shot the day before and he said, "yes, that might be a good idea because she will beat you by about 20 strokes". :lmao:

That's an AWESOME story!! I love women that can play golf!!

My DW can play pretty decent, but she really never has had a great desire to play a lot.

I had a girlfriend in college who was very good. She could have played college golf, but went into politics and law instead.

I wished I could have seen the look on the cowboys' faces when you cleaned their clocks!! :rotfl2:

The most I ever learned on a golf course came when I was about 19 and paired up with two women about 35-40. They taught me a lot that day. Both of them shot around 80. What I learned most was to keep my mouth shut. Golf is such a great game. i can have the worst round of my life going and then I birdie 18 and I can't wait to play again.

Dh gets a lot of comment like "you are SO lucky your wife loves to golf". I golf more then he does.
