I know they said in 2010, but does anyone know the exact date? We're going to WDW at the end of April and I know DH would like to get one more round in there before they close for good.

I don't think Osprey Ridge is closing. They already closed Eagle Pines but I didn't think they were closing Osprey Ridge.

They are not closing it but it will no longer be owned by Disney according to what they told DH last summer when he played there. Don't remember the resort name but they are suppose to build a new resort around Osprey Ridge that is not Disney.
They also told DH Osprey Ridge will probably be under Disney most of 2010. He too wants to play once more in March.

So it's true! I thought it was a rumour- that's too bad. What a gorgeous course. I just wrote about playing there in my TR today- with plenty of photos of the beautiful course and all the wildlife on it. So, so glad we got to play there this year- any idea when in 2010 it will no longer be Disney? We're going back to golf again in September-:sad1:

I didn't know it wasn't closing. Thanks! But now that I know it's changing ownership I wonder what non-Disney rates will be like. And I assume the DVC golf card won't help there.

We golfed at Osprey Ridge in October and we were told that it was part of the package that went to 4 seasons. We noticed on the 6th hole I think, that there was leveled land with a retaining wall, and asked the ranger what was being built. He told us that it was Bill Gates multimillion dollar vacation home as he is one of the owners of the 4 seasons corp. What a loss for Disney, as it is the most beautiful golf course on Disney property. You have to wonder what direction Disney is going after hearing of this business deal!:confused3

Bill Gates hasn't seen some of my drives. After I play the new course he will wish it was further from the golf course. I think I might leave some apples in his yard as well.

I played Osprey on Wednesday, and I dont think any changes will be happening anytime soon, if any. Its been reported in the past that Osprey will become the new resort course for the Four Seasons that is being built. From the looks of things, this resort is getting no where fast. It is basically just a giant empty field, and there were no workers there. My impression is that the project has been put on hold due to the economy. They built a fancy new enterance by FW, but thats about it...

As to the hole with the brick retaining wall, I find it unlikely it will be for a private home for Bill Gates, as its right smack in the middle of where the resort itself is to go. Bill Gates does own a significant portion of Four Seasons, and perhaps thats how the misinformation chain started with the CM;)

The Osprey looks like it will remain open at least through 2010 because of delays in initiating construction of the Four Seasons units (when orginially announced in 2007 the plan was for Four Seasons resort to open in 2010, that has been moved back to 2012 and even that is a soft date). It will ultimately be turned over and then closed for some time because they are supposed to redo a number of the holes so that both nines come back to what will be a new clubhouse (they are supposed to actually use/redo a few of the old Eagle Pines holes to accomplish that).

That's probably where I got the idea that it was closing in 2010. I never listened long enough to know that it wasn't a permanent closure though. So now it may not be turned over to Four Seasons until 2012, I hope.

Oh, I am so glad to hear it may not be closed to us for a while yet! And I have a picture to go with the Bill Gates house rumor-

Yup, that's it. Pretty amazing location, whatever it will be! We will be golfing there next month and will give an update!
