Golfer With Questions

DW and I are Avid Golfers Last week played with pair that never played before..Made for long day...Being a newbe is there any way to avoid this problem..

Did you play at WDW last week? I know that all the courses DH has played there have marshalls that really keep the play going well. He's never had to wait past his tee time or wait at holes for slow players. Slow play makes for people waiting, and none of the Disney courses want that type of bottleneck.

not meaning length of time playing but the flow of play with people who have never played golf before.They would hit at least 3 shots before we would hit ours. Also, no knowledge of golf etiquette.

I don't know how you get around that at a public golf course. DH and I have played the WDW courses every year for quite awhile and have always been paired with seasoned golfers ( who have also been very nice). I think early morning tee times usually attract routine players so that may help.

Good luck and sorry for your bad experience. I know it can be "off-setting" spending big bucks for resort golf and then being paired with newbies.

I assume you went on one the 18 hole courses and not Oak Trail the nine hole executive course that is always heavily populated by inexperienced players (and thus are unavoidable there). The 18 hole courses usually hook up groups automatically until there is a foursome. If you play early morning (first hour or so) you will usually avoid beginners because most who get those times are not so (but also be aware that many who get those early times with whom you may be hooked up can get very annoyed about being hooked up with you unless you can do a round in under 4 hours, preferably 3 1/2). Also, if you try to play between 12:30 and before twilight rates begin during the week, you can request not to be hooked up and they will try to honor that request if traffic is light. However, even then you might end up behind those novices
