I assume you went on one the 18 hole courses and not Oak Trail the nine hole executive course that is always heavily populated by inexperienced players (and thus are unavoidable there). The 18 hole courses usually hook up groups automatically until there is a foursome. If you play early morning (first hour or so) you will usually avoid beginners because most who get those times are not so (but also be aware that many who get those early times with whom you may be hooked up can get very annoyed about being hooked up with you unless you can do a round in under 4 hours, preferably 3 1/2). Also, if you try to play between 12:30 and before twilight rates begin during the week, you can request not to be hooked up and they will try to honor that request if traffic is light. However, even then you might end up behind those novices
