Who travels with their clubs?
Do you need a special bag?
My guys are thinking of golfing while in wdw..would rather bring theirs rather than rent them..but if we have to buy new bags..well then.. :)
They have those button on type covers for their golf clubs-is that okay?

grover,

Having worked at the airport for a couple of years, I do know that each airline has it's own policy on luggage requirements.

I don't know which airline you are flying so I found Air Canada's policy for you:

Air Canada- Golf clubs
A golf bag containing no more than 14 clubs, 12 golf balls and one pair of golf shoes. The bag and clubs must be fully enclosed in a hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the item(s) will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing Air Canada of liability

In all the times I worked in the U.S. terminal, I have never seen a golf bag that was used on the course, only the hard shell ones, so I am assuming most airlines have the same policy. Although, watching the ramp guys handle luggage, well....I personally wouldn't use a soft sided bag!

Hope that helps!

Your wedding (trip) is getting so close!!! I am excited for you!!!!::yes:: :bounce:

Thanks for the info Timon..
We are flying NWA...I think for all it is worth mabey they should just rent em down there after all..less hassel!
Plus it will eat up my precious luggage allowance!!
I am very excited-only a few weeks to get thru!
Vanessa :)

I have taken my clubs down to disney about 6 times on Southwest. I bought a soft shell bag that just zips over my normal golf bag. I think it cost about $20 at Golf Town. I don't find it to be a hassle at all. Once you get to disney, your resort will hold the clubs for you in their luggage department. You don't even have to worry about them. When it's time for you to golf, just go down to bell services and they will get them out for it. The only problem I have had with taking my clubs is that they got lost once coming home from disney. Southwest found them the next day and I got them back immediately, plus some travel vouchers for my inconvenience. I will always take my own clubs. It works out very well and renting clubs can get expensive.

We rent Disney clubs when we go-they are so much better than our own and you can try out different brands. My DH liked the clubs he rented so much the first time we were there, we actually bought him a demo set for his birthday when we got back (at the time, they were renting top of the line titleist-retail for $1500US new). Last year they were renting cobras-I really liked them. So much easier and hassle free than bringing your own.

When we last flew to WDW in 2000 we flew Air Transat. At that time they transported sporting equipment free(not part of your luggage allowance)We packed up the clubs in a soft case.Coming home knowing we didnt have to pay extra for the clubs,I loaded up the dirty laundry with the clubs and I had lots of space for what we had bought.

What a "novel" idea, Kelly! I'll have to remember that next time we fly.

Dh prefers to bring his own clubs because he takes his game very seriously and says you never know what you will end up renting.

He bought the hard shell case to transport his golf bag and clubs.
