Golf Carts -- Anybody just back from FW rent a cart?

We have been to FW once before and will be going back in a few weeks, can't wait! The first time we didn't rent a golf cart (we were on a tight budget and thought the cart was pretty expensive!) but this time would like to try and rent one. Anybody just back from FW -- what did it cost to rent a cart for the week or per day?? And if you used the alternative off-grounds rental places, were the savings that great? I see where they charge a $50 delivery fee -- so are they still the cheaper way to rent a cart even with this fee tacked on? Hi!

we've always rented from FW, but on our last trip we rented from Golf Cart Enterprises. They were great! And, we saved about $100 over the price at FW, even with the $50 delivery charge!

They drop it off fully charged (or full or gas if you rent a gas one) at the front entrance with the paperwork and key in it. Then, on your last evening, or the morning before you leave, just drop it back off in the same place! It's very easy, and much cheaper than rented from FW. Also, you can ask for a windshield, and GCE will not charge you the extra $5 per day like FW does! I highly recommend this because early mornings and evenings get chilly!

I have one reserved for the first week in June. We rented from the off site cart rentals that Rhonda recommended.
Total cost for 7 days including tax is $212. If I am correct, this is about a $50 savings over the Disney carts.
Another family that is coming with us reserved thiers just this past weekend. They took the gas option while we took the electric. Either way, $212.

Hi,

I can't remember excatly, but I was thinking it was more like around $35-40 a day for a 24 hour rental at Fort Wilderness Campground. You could call the bike barn for rates and to reserve...

How far in advance do you reserve your cart from Golf Cart Enterprises? We are not going until Oct. And this sounds like a great thing.

All I can tell you is that I reserved in early Feb. for June 2-10, and my friend had no trouble reserving on March 3 for the same week.

This guy is pretty cool. You will give him your credit card num. and he will fax you an agreement to sign and return to him. $212, the cart is waiting when you get there, and you leave it at the office when you leave. You never see him. I checked this place inside out through these threads and he is trustworthy.

Just another thumbs up for golf cart enterprises. We rented from them in January, reserved the cart the week before we left with no problem. At busier times of the year you might want to reserve earlier than that. But we had a very positive experience and will definitely give them our business again!

I was just checking our receipt from our golf cart rental at FW in November. For 6 days we were charged $216.00 ($36/day) + $12.96 tax for a total of $228.96. We did not have a windshield on our cart, carts with windshields are more.

That's another nice thing about GCE - they don't charge extra for the windshields! But, you have to specify that you want one when you make the reservation or it will come without one.

This happened to us - I thought I had specified it, but I must have forgot. It came without one. So, I called them from a payphone at the comfort station after we picked up the cart, and they made a special trip to put one on for us! They are very nice to work with and very helpful!

Just reserved mine for a trip at the end of April. They are now charging for windshields. $5. day or $25/week Not bad considered. He is mailing me the contract and I will mail it back. Very nice guy.
He asked where I heard of them and I told the DIS. Seems DIS is sending them considerable business. Word of mouth is great.

Thanks Rhonda for the information about the golf cart rentals.We have been going to Ft Wilderness for 10 yrs and staying in the homes and we have always rented from Ft Wilderness bike barn. They used to have specials for 21.00 a day during slow seasons,but in the past few years it has been 35.00 a day and we usually stay 10 or 11 days so every little discount helps.We will be going again in October and definatley make resv with enterprise.
