Five weeks from today and we'll be on our way from cold, snowy Michigan to the Fort!!:cool1: We're bringing our own golf cart which does not have headlights or tail lights. Are they required or just recommended?? We have a spotlight that plugs into a cigarette lighter - and reflectors on the back - but not lights. Should we install them before we go? It's a 1987 MINT Yamaha G-1, so parts are hard to come by. Thanks for your help! :hippie:

Yes, lights are required (edited to add - - at night). It doesn't specifically say they must be on during the day. I should probably let the GC regulars answer this thread but I did want to give you the link to the official rules sheet.

Here is a listing of the rules/reqs.

Have a great time.

AuburnJen92 had some trouble on one trip....they had taped the large square flashlights to their cart ( I think that was the situation ) and the mouse cops escorted them back to their campsite because that wasnt what they considered to be safe. (there may be discrepancies to the story....I read this a loooong time ago, and my memory aint what it was) but apparently they are pretty serious about head and rear lights.

They are required at night but there are some people who get away without them (they just have not been caught yet). :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! The husband found some nice ones on Ebay and will order and install them. :thumbsup2

The streets at the Fort are VERY dark at night,,not a lotta street lights,,
I would never drive without lights at night at the Fort,,, WAY TOO DANGEROUS.

don't forget to pack your fishing poles! :thumbsup2

It was just getting dark one night while I was looping in the 300 loop and a cast member pulled me over and told me to turn my lights on. So yeah you need lights. If you want to get buy cheap and quick go to wal-mart and buy a set of fog lights it will come with the wires and switch for about $25.00 then buy 2 small red l.e.d lights for $10.00 and some extra wire and splice them into the head lights. No more then $50.00 and you will be lit. Have a good trip and enjoy looping.

They are...you can use the cart in the day and they will not bother you, however, once it gets to be dusk, they will escort you back to your site if you do not have the "proper" equipment. Our lights went out on a trip, just after we purchased our cart, and we used lantern flashlights to make up for it. DS was not impressed and escorted hubby and the people on the cart back to the site. They told him day driving only.

I wouldn't even bother with ebay. I went down to the local auto parts store, bought a set of small halogens and installed them myself. I think I spent all of 20 bucks. They have been on there for 3 years and never gave me a stitch of trouble.
