Going home to both BWV and VB in just about 3 weeks.
Where at Vero is the best place to play Golf? How close is it to the property? Approx. cost? Thank you in advance to all for your help.

I played three courses on my May visit. I got the first one booked through Guest Services then handled the rest myself.

Sandridge
5300 73rd St., Vero Beach, FL 32960, Tel: (561) 770-5000,

This has two courses, The Dunes and The Lakes. It was the off season in May and it cost me $17 to play in the afternoon with cart. That was for 18 holes. It's about 10 minutes from DVC VB.

The other one I played was the city course at:

Sebastian Golf Course
101 E Airport Dr., Sebastian, FL 32958, Tel: (561) 589-6800,

They were doing so work on the back nine and it was closed. I went about 3pm and it cost $11.57 to play the front nine, with cart. Again, this was off-season prices.

I thought Sandridge was a reasonable public course and midweek is excellent value ( they do have a "club day" either Thurday or Friday which does make the course busier) .

If you don't want to spend ALL day away from the family, I like the course "Aquarina", it is only a par 62-63 ( no par 5s) but is a pretty course and some challenging par 3s. About 10 minutes drive from DVC north on A1A , this is good value as well. It's a good course to sharpen up your game before moving on to a more "serious" challenge.

If you want to pay "top dollar" for a championship course I think you may have to drive a little further but I'm certain you'll find one. Orchid Island is right next to DVC but I don't think they take "non members" , gotta be worth a phone call though.

Hi,
You have a lot of choices for golf around Vero at all sorts of prices. Closest to the resort (5-10 min) is Sandridge. It has 2 courses, both nice. It is a municipal course ant the summer rates for summer will be around $25 or less. About 45 minutes away in Port St. Lucie are a trio of wonderful courses run by the PGA. 2 were designed by Tom Fazio (North and South) and the other designed by Pete Dye. Summer rates around $25-$30. The web site there is www.pgavillage.com. Well worth the drive and a steal for green fees. Another option in VB is Indian River Club. It is a private club but a superbly conditioned course, as most private courses with limited play are. The fees there are around $65 in the summer. You'd have to go thru member services for tee times there. I've played all of these courses and you can't go wrong on any of them. Just depends on how much you want to pay and how far you want to drive. Have a great trip, hit 'em straight and have a cold one at the Green Cabin.
