We have gold passes and they renew on April 20th. This year they have two weeks blocked for easter through the 21st. We are coming back on the 18th. Would we be able to get park hopper passes use them for the 19,20, and 21 (we usually don't go to the park the first day) and then convert them over to gold renewals? We will be here for over a week so we don't have to do it right on the 22nd either.

Yes, it's possible, but it's also very complicated and unusual. You may need to visit a few different ticket booths to get the upgrade processed correctly.

You will loose out on the 15% discount that you get for renewing before your pass expires. Which brings the pass to $496 with tax.

You have anywhere from 60 days prior to the expiration date until 30 days following the expiration date to renew an AP. The anniversary date of the renewed AP will still be one year from the original expiration date and not one year from the renewal date.
