OK I know most will think I am crazy but I am taking my 2 sons 5 and 4 and my 7 week old daughter in December. Has anyone ever done Disney with such a small infant before? I am a seasoned Disney veteran so I am not that worried, this will be my 5 year olds 8th trip to Disney!!! We are staying at the Beach Club any advise will be helpful. Oh and I am not traveling alone :) My mom will be with me!!!

I dont have any advice for you, but just wanted to say that we will be taking our new daughter to WDW when she is about 9 weeks old.Our older children (DD 10 and DS 8)have been wanting to go back and my youngest two(DS 5 and DD 2) have never been so this Thanksgiving seemed like the perfect time for us. I am a big fan of the maya wrap, my youngest two lived in it ,and I will just sling the baby and take her with me. I actually feel that she will be easier than a toddler because she is so young. My parents are also coming with us so I will have lots of help.
Have a great time and enjoy your little ones!

My ds was 10 weeks old for his first trip. We just took things slower than usual and we had a blast, some of the pictures we have of him with the characters are priceless.

We didn't have any issues with taking a baby so young, he slept in his stroller during the day and we used the pack n play. It's much easier taking an infant than a toddler in my opinion.

Have fun planning your trip!

Nancy

I think that Disney World is probably one of the baby friendliest places! We took our son to Disneyland when he was only 3 weeks old and had an amazing expereince. We took him to Disneyworld when he was 5 months old and had an even better experience. Consider mailing some supplies like diapers ahead of time. We checked one bag entirely for our baby with diapers, food, essentials for the week, and a case of bottled water and that helped a lot. Make sure to bring a stroller...Also, there are really nice baby centers located in all of the WDW parks. They have changing stations and sell extras like jars of baby food and formula. Just make sure to bring lots of socks because our little guy kept losing his and some of the characters won't take pictures with your child unless they have socks on so we kept having to buy Disney socks at $7.00 per pair. That adds up!!! Remember to bring things like Tylenol and a nasal aspirator. We lost our nasal aspirator and could not find one anywhere. Even concierge couldn't track one down!!! Sometimes the weather difference can make allergies act up and that happened to our son.
There is a great feature called baby swap where mom and dad can take turns riding attractions while the other holds the baby and then swap. That way you won't have to stand in line again. There are so many baby friendly rides though. Our son loved "It's a Small World" and pretty much everything in Fantasyland. Have a great trip!!!

I would check with your ped first. Not to be a downer but WDW and the planes are a germ festival. Good luck!:cutie:

What's the deal with the socks? That's so good to know.

Our DD was seven weeks old when we did WDW for 8 nights last September. We used a stroller and a Maya wrap. IMHO she was the best behaved child in WDW. It worked out fine, she went on quite a few rides. We had a great time. You will too. Any specific questions ask away.

My bigger concern would be you. You are going to be post-partum. Are you really going to be up to doing WDW that soon? (I know I wouldn't be...but I had C-sections). Take really good care of yourself and take it nice and slow.

While your point is a valid one, everyone is different. Both of my DD's were born via Scheduled C-Sections. I booked my family's trip last year fully aware of my new DD's impending birthday, and exactly how she would come into this world. I would however recommend the op get trip insurance so she is covered in case there are any circumstances that prevent the trip from going off as planned including those related to the birth of a new child.

I brought my youngest to WDW when she was about 7 weeks old.. it was great. I did have my Peanut shell pouch and ring slings, which made standing in line and nursing much easier. I would recommend a good carrier like one mentioned or a wrap..a wrap, ring sling or pouch is great for the newborn stage because you can snuggle with your babe!

We did this several times, and it worked out well! WDW is a great baby place. Just take it at a comfortable pace!

Thanks everyone-I did check with my pedi and he said it was fine-Since I work fulltime and will be on maternity leave when we go I figured it was the perfect time to sneek another Disney trip in!!!
I will take it easy and we will go slow-THANKS!!!
And I have to agree with those that said an infant is easier than most toddlers!

Hiya

Im going in December with a new baby between 6 and 8 weeks old, only extra thing for us is a nine hour flight lol

cant wait though both the doctor and midwife have given me the all clear to go

We did it in '03 with our 2.5 year old daughter and 7 week old son. It was great. The newborn was either nursing or sleeping the entire time, and our daughter had a blast. We go every year, and we both fondly remember that trip as being one of our best ever.

We have taken a couple of babies (maybe 3) at about that age. They are very easy. We used a stroller and a front pack to carrythe baby. The baby areas for changing, feeding and nursing are wonderful. The area for nursing is cool and dim.

You can do a child swap too. One parent goes on the ride while the other waits then you switch without having to stand in line the second time.

Have lots of fun and go at your pace.

We also took a 7 week old and had a wonderful experience. We took advantage of lots of air conditioned rides and shows as well as a couple of Baby Care Centers to nurse. He slept a good deal of the time. Hopefully your new baby will be a good sleeper. Our son slept for 7+ hours at a time at that point so I really did feel pretty well rested most of the time. If (s)he doesn't sleep as well (my other two sure didn't!) plan on taking some naps. Even Disney can turn unmagical if experienced when severely sleep deprived.

I am so glad to hear so many positive experiences about taking small babies to WDW! Yeah! We are planning on taking our children in Sept. but I don't even have a ticker up yet b/c I am so scared that I will back out of the trip. I am scheduled for an induction on 7/2 (I do have a ticker for that!) so the baby will be about 10 weeks old when we leave. We have taken our two daughters before and are really looking forward to it but I am a little bit :scared1: . My first daughter didn't sleep but my second one slept like the dead! I am praying that I will have the stamina to keep up and go on the trip. WDW is my happy place!
